Sadly, with only 6 players, you can not hide your weak link ( Gift) for very long.   It's inevitable that he will be exposed against good competition.

EVERYTIME St. John's gets close, G'Town hits a big 3

Dunlap's plan is to let them shoot wide open threes. It's not working.

So your plan is to extend our defense so they can pound it inside?  Give it a rest

No offense but I've been watching St.John's a lot longer than you. This is not a program that should ever play a match up zone. St.John's plays man to man defense until they foul out, or until they drop.

Don't be so sure of that.

Good effort today.  Played them a lot tougher than I thought they would.

St.John's plays man to man defense. Of that, I'm sure. Dunlap sucks. You are what your record is.

Keady in postgame interview said he loved Amir today and his hard fouls and how he wished some of the other bigs were as intense

Ok time for a little negativity from Marillac for the first time this year.  Moe pisses me off sometimes...his play the last few minutes cost us the game.  The kid does so much good, but made some real dumb decisions to end the game.  He can be a black hole when he gets it in his mind to drive...down four he started a drive to the hoop and in the process Harrison was left open at the top of the key feet planted but Moe took it and missed.  You gotta know where that kid is at all times when you're down late.

It pisses me off that there were no screens for Harrison on a few of his late treys.  That kid earns his 37% from deep like no other player I've seen...damn!

Harrison is a smart effing player.  I love the way he draws contact on his drives...how do you defend him?  If I didn't know I'd think he was a senior.  Move over Bootsy and EB, Marillac has a new all-time favorite in Harrison already.  If he's not the Big East Rookie of the Year a severe injustice has been done.  Is it just me or does it just seem like every three he takes late is going to go in regardless of how he shot before that point?  God, he's going to be sensational as a senior.  I can't even imagine it right now.

How did this team manage to be down just three in the last minute or so of the game?  What a job by Dunlap...nothing short of amazing, really.
Anyone that doubts Dunlap needs to stand up, look in the mirror, and just admit they don't know a damn thing about basketball.

There was a real nice play called by Dunlap out of one of the last timeouts....Harrsison buried himself in the right corner and Moe waited on the right wing for the pass.  It's like "choose your poison, G'town."  They stayed on Harrison (no doubt the focus in practice) and Moe drove it.  That is going to be deadly next season if we can get a shooter to bury himself on the opposite baseline for Moe to kick it to on the drive.

Loved Garret today..that kid is going to be a player.  Damn, we are going to be so good next season.   SIX players?  NO size? FIVE freshman? And we keep it within 3-4 under two minutes on the road against #12 Georgetown?!?!?  #excited

Dunlap has forgotten more about basketball than you'll ever know.  As big a Syracuse fan that you are I would think you would be praising zone defenses.

And I was referring to your statement that you have watched St. John's basketball longer. it's closer than you think. And  If you're a grown man you should be truly embarrassed of some of your posts.  How do you hold others to such high standards and expect so little from yourself?

10-15 is 10-15. He's the coach now. You're a professional coach making a salary, you get credit for winning and you get the blame for losing. As a grown man, I'm not willing to support every decision he makes. I'm sorry for you that you don't like that.

In Novemver I predicted this team would win 12 games. We'll see in March, early March, exactly how much I know.

I don't understand why you would bring up Syracuse's zone defense. We shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as them let alone stand on the same court. But good for you recognizing that they play a zone defense. That's the defense they've always played, and it's worked out well for them.

All I'm suggesting is that we stop playing a match up zone. And I have established very good reasons for that. Rather than attack me. Why don't you try making a point. Since you're such a grown up, it shouldn't be so hard.

If you predicted 12 wins, why the hell are you so mad?  Freshmen don't win!!!!  We have no size or depth.  I am so pleased.  How we even possibly kept this game within 3-4 is a mystery to me.  They had eight more boards than us and they have a boatload of size and experience.

These kids are going to be amazing next season!!!!

Our 6 guys would  be exhausted. That's why we play so much zone. We would most likely play more man if we had more guys.

Fair enough. That's a good point, and the way I see it is if this staff built this team and it has 6 players, it's on them to make it work, and 6 guys can't get it done. You have a responsibility to these 6 players to give them a chance to win games.

All season, we've been hearing that we can't play man, because we'd be in foul trouble. Well, we're in foul trouble in just about every game. You bring in White, and you find another guy to spe these kids. They deserve better. For as great of a job this staff did last year, they've imploded this year.
