thanks guys
« on: March 06, 2012, 08:18:41 PM »
first and foremost to the six players, all newcomers, who stuck it out and showed more bravery than i ever seen by a college basketball team.  many, many thanks.  you guys are top notch as far as i'm concerned.  has there ever been another team with there backs up against the wall like that all season, with no prior experience no less, and perform with such heart and perserverence.  six conference wins...amazing.

thanks to the coaching staff.  could not have been much easier for you guys.  big man goes down.  and you guys pulled together and got the job done.  hope you all stick around for a while.  great job, mike.  protecting the six players that you had to work with.  i can't believe we made it through the season.  was biting my nails every game against injury or foul trouble.  lets not go through that again.

many, many, many, many, many thanks to steve lavin.  anybody who doesn't think this guy has turned this program around is insane.  and he does it with class and a positive demeanor.  not one of those loud mouth cry babies.  a real treat to watch on the sideline, which we will see for years to come, i hope.  get well buddy.  not only do we need you, but you're one of the good guys in this world.  couldn't be more proud to have you coach this team.

Thanks very much players and coaches for a very entertaining season.
Get well soon coach!
Please stay MO and help next year's team do some damage and make it back to the dance!
All available top notch recruits should jump on this Redmen train because there is lots of available playing time for top notch talent and the train is leaving the station.

These 6 players proved their worth to this program this year. Im forever thankful to them. But make no mistake about it they all have unfinished business to take care of in queens!

+1. We're very happy that you wore SJU on your chest. We're proud that you represented the school and yourselves so well. Kill em next year.

Much love and respect to all in the Program who stayed with us from beginning to end. Much love and respect to all the coaching staff and much love and respect to the Fresh Five, God's Gift, and the walk-ons, who don't always get the love they deserve.

Much props to them, a small team playing basically 40 minutes a game. Never quit and played their asses off all season long. Nothing but effort, this is a tough group and the results will come

We knew we had some talent....the manner in which the guys approached the season, and worked their tails off with the staff to improve, is terrific.  With continued desire and improvement, and some help from the 2012 class, next year promises to be another exciting one.

I'm thankful to coach for hanging in there despite his health issue, the staff for not panicking and continuing to convey their vision for the team, and the players for making the most of a most trying situation. Well done everyone!

Agree with all the above posts. Was a pleasure watching these guys bust their hump until the final buzzer, no matter what the outcome.

"Congratulations to the young St. John's Redmen. The team showed alot of poise and fight in spite of the seasons' difficulties. There have been alot of great men who have had the privilidge to wear the Uniform that have come before these young guys. I think you have earned their nod of respect. From Buck Freeman to Joe Lapchick to Lou Carnesecca, these great men have built, with great humility and ...service, a very proud institution and have made an unprecedented contribution to the game of Basketball and those of us who have been blessed to have been touched and taught by them are eternally grateful. Ultimately, they made us Men. I hope the young Redmen take the lessons from these Men and if so, win or lose, will be successful in whatever they do....Good Luck next year."
