With my luck, when we get to the final four ( and I do believe we'll get there as I'm something of a religious fanatic ),  it'll be in Cleveland or Des Moines or Indianapolis or Minneapolis instead of someplace cool like New Orleans or Miami.

In New Orleans try Brennan's for breakfast.

First item on the menu: Eye Openers.
Make sure that you hit the Acme Oyster House for lunch or dinner.  2 words. Grilled Oysters.  Incredible.
Commanders Palace for dinner. Bread Pudding souffle.  Awesome.
Mothers....for a debris sandwich!  Also incredible! (And disregard the name. Debris is actually the ends of meat that get tossed into a gravy mixture..then served on a sandwich).
I will be down there in early May.  I can't wait!!!

I will be there! Leaving tomorrow and coming back next Wednesday.  I was told to try ACME Oyster House and told NOT to try a "hurricane".

You have to try a hurricane.  There was another crazy drink in a large green "cup".  I think it was called the grenade or something like that.  Good times.  Sriously, you have to have a hurricane in NO if you have never.  Kinda like going to Ireland and not trying a Guinness.

Yeah Boo is right. You can't go to Nola and not get a hurricane.

Try this bar on Bourbon

Also a restaurant I liked a lot was Jacques Imos.  Excellent food and not bad prices and it's a funky type of place

I was told you absolutely have to have a Hurricane. I'll be staying at the Royal Sonesta Wed/Thurs. I had to get myself a balcony room on Bourbon St then I'll be heading downtown where all the action is for the weekend. Hit me up when you're down there Theo.

Stayed at Sonesta two weeks before Katrina for family wedding.  Great hotel.  One of the best I've ever stayed in.  If you go to Hustler club they might know my name if you drop it :)

I was told you absolutely have to have a Hurricane.

Get it at Pat O'briens where it was invented.  The other popular Bourbon street walking drink is the Hand grenade.  Preferred by the locals and packs more of a wallup.  Don't forget a stop into Preservation Hall.  It's like a step back in time.

P. S.  Oysters are best consumed raw.  Whether at Acme or across the street.

Mother's, Acme Oyster House, Frenchmen Street and all that certain clubs on Bourbon Street have to offer and you'll be all set.

hand grenade!   yes, that was it, thanks Carmine.

Mothers is a great sandwich shop.  Definitely a must.  When we went Branford Marsalis was in front of us on line.  we spoke with him for about 10 minutes. What a great guy.  Not everyday you get to chill with a living legend on line for a shrimp po'boy!

So there's a million recommendations out there already,  but don't discount a new entry..

Archie Manning just opened a restaurant this year, called Manning's.  Good New Orleans/Southern style cuisine and a big sports theme with tons of flat screens and memorabilia from Archie, Peyton, and Eli's careers.   Cool place, and when I was there in February, Archie was even in the house on a random Thursday night, so I'm pretty sure he'll be there the week of the Final Four.   Very personable guy.

And the restaurant is right across the street from the big Harrah's casino in NO... so there's that advantage too.  8)

And everyone is right.. gotta have a Hurricane.   O'brian's is a good place to get your first as you make your way along Bourbon St.

That's funny.  The only time I went to Mother's the actor from Law and Order and Agent Cody Banks was on line in front of me.  Put it in the travel books.  Go to Mothers and you're guaranteed to meet celebrities.
