ESPN3 only for the possible semi vs Murray St? LAME!

Maybe it could get picked up by an espn regional/SNY/MSG type deal.

It is surprising that a tournament with a lot of solid schools cant get all ESPN/2/U

Is this a sign of disrespect? Does college of Charleston have a say in who they play? If so that probably means they think were the worst team in the tourney

On the contrary the host team is probably the worst in the tournament as all the other teams come from higher profile conferences.  Granted not to take that literally but think Maui and Chaminade in a similar but not exact way.

We have some STJ ties in the athletic dept down in Charleston so I think that might have come into play as well.

No matter who we play in this really its better than a lot of out other schedule.  This is pretty solid tournament.  It's no Maui but also no Alaska Shootout.  Solid in the middle.

CofC return's it top 5 leading scorers from a team that started off very strong last year before the sudden retirement of Bobby Cremmons.  They faded down the stretch but early in the season beat both Clemson and Tennessee and lost a real close game on the road to Louisville.   Their leading scorer Antoine Wiggins is a fifth year senior after taking a medical redshirt one year.  He is also a lock-down defender at 6'7 who caused Steph Curry fits when Curry was otherwise dominating the conference.  Their other bigs, junior 6'8 Weideman and soph 6'9 Baru (a consensus top 50 recruit and the highest recruit to sign to a Southern Conference school in 20+ years) do a great job of controlling the glass and protecting the rim.   And they have a strong perimeter tandem in senior Andrew Lawrence from the UK (13 pts, 5.5 asists per game) and rising soph Anthony Stitt (10ppg, 40% from 3) who can both shoot effectively from 3 and spread the defense.  They also have a 6'7 white guy Sundberg who comes off the bench as a three point specialist in the mold of Steve Novak. 


I lived down in Charleston for 4 years and the new arena they built 2 years ago is a fantastic venue for college basketball.  It also gets quite loud and will be a very challenging road environment.  I think this will be a pretty evenly matched game.

C of C Andrew Lawrence is one of only 2 present college players playing in the Olympics with Delavadova (?) of I believe St. Mary's. C of C sounds like they will be quite a challenge as we have a lot of new guys and they seem like a veteran team who will have home court advantage. Sure hope we don't lose first game and get relegated to the losers bracket as that certainly will not enhance my vacation experience.

Espn gives a breakdown of the tournament. Only one of the guys has SJU in the finals but this should be a very competitive tournament and good experience for our talented young team. We are under the radar this year and I dont mind that at all, this team with its depth and athleticism will surprise people and this is a good stage to start doing that.

based on the stud point guards we are likely to face..andrew lawrence at charleston, isaiah canaan at murray state and pierre jackson at baylor... its a shame we will not have jamal branch to provide some elite defense.  same goes when we face detroits ray mccallum.

Isaiah Austin, F/C, Baylor Bears
While Noel disappointed, most NBA scouts came away with a lot of positive things to say about Austin. He didn't necessarily put up huge numbers all week, but Austin's skill set and size really intrigued scouts.

"I think he's a better prospect than Perry Jones or Quincy Miller," one NBA scout said. "I wish he was 25 pounds heavier and I wish Baylor had guards that would get him the ball, but I do think he's got a chance to be the best freshman in his class."

Isaiah Canaan, G, Murray State Racers
Canaan doesn't really look much like a point guard. The question is whether he can play point guard in the pros. Some scouts walked away from Canaan's play at both LeBron and Nations questioning that. But many more felt convinced that Canaan could actually pull it off. In a draft that lacks a ton of point guard prospects, a great season could get him into the first round.

Isaiah Austin has never impressed me when i've watched him.
