That's how he was in high school. Norms offense was too restrictive on Boothe also defense in pro city is pretty awful too that helps a lot.

Again would have loved to see staff with Boothe for more than 1 yr.  Not expecting a world beater but Sr year we saw glimpses of what he could have been.

Norm didn't use Boothe right.  A guy like him was perfect for a change of pace, off-the-bench sparkplug, who should not have been playing more minutes than a guy like Hardy.  Had we had our staff for all four years of Malik's tenure, I think he would have been a real nice rotational player.

Looks like he lost a lot of weight and looks in much better shape than when he played for us-looks a lot quicker. Plus he is now a GROWN LITTLE MAN!

Always seemed like Boothe was hobbled by some sort of injury.

Was Boothe better than Erving Walker at Christ the King?

No way. Walker was great. He could play both guard spots, and he was in range from all over the court.

Not sure, Malik's defense made it all even in my book. Erving excelled at the point in college. Was mostly 2 guard in highschool. Malik was a heady sure point guard. Don't forget duke was in on his recruitment for a bit.

Did Walker play the point at Florida?

My uncle was Malik's junior highschool coach as well as mentor. He handled part of his recruitment as well and duke made a few phone calls and took a good look at him, history shows they ended up not going that route but they were indeed on his trail for a hot sec

Can't really go trough scout all the time there constantly coaches contacting kidS that the media sometimes never even knows about. I talk to guys all the time where they'll tell me that schools were talking to them that no one would ever even think was in the picture. Is Iona listed on pelle's scout profile?

I think the site started boothes senior year in hs. People who followed recruiting were very high on him at the time. Many wanted him to start from daY one. It seemed like he never got any better

I think a lot of people also got scared when they saw that he only averaged like 6 ppg as a senior and got his lunch money stolen by a younger Kemba in the CHSAA playoffs.

Always liked Malik coming out of CTK.  Thought he'd be much better then he was, but got swallowed up in the Norm nonsense. Had to play a little second fiddle to Erv, and got the short end of the stick when compared with a future pro. Now he looks like the old Malik.

Does anyone know what Malik is doing besides summer basketball?  He was always a nice young man and I hope he has success in whatever he does.

I went to high school with Malik, same graduating year 2007, he then followed me to St. John's. lol

Anyway the CTK backcourt of Malik and Walker was so much fun to watch. They were rockstars. I always used to go up to Fordham for the city championship game against Rice. Good times. Hard to believe that was five years ago now. Damn.

Glad you had fun watching, wasn't as fun to guard.
