Iona????
Come on.  Did Baldi take over your computer.  No school should allow another school within their territory to move into a conference.  Especially one with pull like STJ.

Other than that its on point ;)

Moose, had a hard time with that last east spot

Iona
Fordham
Manhattan
Hoftsra

They all came to mind

Who would you propose?

I perhaps overlooked George Washington St. Josephs or George Mason

What creates rivalries is proximity. Expanding the BE to the Midwest wasn't just a bad idea terms of the BE brand. SU fans, Nova fans, Uconn fans etc. Love them or hate them. You know them.

But if you expand to an east and a west you play the teams within the east twice and a few carry over games.  Might not play everyone maybe.  Proximity is great I agree but right now the basketball schools need to unite and strengthen their brands.  This will have to involve markets outside of the east that have strong BASKETBALL schools.

UNLV + SDSU  are becoming BB powerhouses. Would like to see them in the W division. Although, geographically ,it makes more sense to have an east and midwest ( no west).

They play football though.  We cannot keep relying on these football teams.

Granted teams like them as well as Cincy and Memphis will eventually have no place to land.  They won't be part of the elite 4 super conferences.

I'd stay away from adding URI and St. Joe's as they infringe on the territories of Prov and Nova.

Is that whole infringing thing overblown? I think we might have to look passed that. Xavier is a must add regardless of cincys opinion IMO.

Look at the acc with Duke, Carolina, Wake, and NC State all in the same state. They seem to do fine (and no I didnt just compare Duke/UNC to Prov/URI :) )

If your Nova or a fan of Nova you have advantage over St. Joe's in terms of recruiting.  You can promote a bigger better conference.  Yes I know Temple was added back 'in Nova territory' but they play football so that card trumps all.  The NC example is all those schools started together, no?   And again not true apples to apples since they also have that pigskin thing to me.

Its not overblown in the sense the school being infringed will 99% against it at the start.  Also that being said I don't think St. Joe's or URI adds a whole lot.  I'd focus on shoring up DMA's to ensure big markets are represented instead of hitting a market you already have.

Good points moose. I cant say I wouldnt be against it if I was a Nova fan like you stated but all these rules might have to be thrown out the window in order to survive. I know id rather have st joes than Southern Methodist.

You would take Xavier, No?

I'd love Xavier.  And I don't care about Cincy since I'd rather be away from them anyway.  So by all means bring them in.  That might be a tougher sell though right now since Football school wields more power.

I'd love to find some bball only schools in some of those DMA's the BE isn't represented.

Any of those over Iona but I'd simply drop them and Detroit.  No need for a huge conference.  In fact if I didn't agree with you that we need to get the team out our way more often I'd limit it to 10 schools with guaranteed home/aways with every team.

Cincy should embrace a rivalry like they have with Xavier.  It sells tickets and creates an environment that we all loved about the Big East's heyday.  We all remember the big rivalries with Cuse, Georgetown etc.  I think Nova vs Temple and Cincy vs Xavier are fantastic ones.  SJU can renew our bad blood with Georgetown and Uconn.  I think it makes for a great conference basketball-wise and people are under rating it by a big margin.

This would be no glorified A-10.  You'd see a 5-6 bid league and some strong programs there.  Xavier is a no-brainer at this point though.  Fantastic bball program and tradition to replace Notre dame.

Sorry guys, but schools like Iona and Fordham don't make the cut in the type of league we're trying to evolve into.

I also don't agree wi splitting off.  Let all these schools pay their exit fees to leave so we can keep the Big East name and fill our pockets.  Why give up paydays for no reason?  Notre dame paying on their way out too..
