G - Greene/Branch
G - Harrison/Sir D
F - Jones
F - Sampson
C - Big O

6th man - Garret... or Sanchez - depending on whether those clowns from the NCAA let him play or not. :crazy2: :tickedoff: :knuppel2:

Anyone that has Jones starting over Garrett at the three needs their head checked.  Have you seen Garrett play?  Have you seen this team?  We will need to cling to Greene-Harrison-Garrett for our dear lives until Sanchez and Bourgault get cleared.   Take away Greene and Garrett and this team wins 15 games.

We need skill players badly.

I'm not saying at the 3, but Lavin said post game yesterday that Jones will start next Tuesday.   I'll see if I can find the quote.
And, I tend to agree with him - Jones deserves to start.     So I think the question becomes do you start Amir or Sampson?

You start Sampson over Amir IMO.

Amir has to be on the court for 30 minutes Tuesday.  Not even negotiable.

Greene Harrison Garrett Sampson Jones

Need Obekpa out there..  I'm fine with Garret over Jones.  Jones can be a great energy guy off the bench.

So to round out your Top 7 right now (with the New Ro two in limbo)  would be Obekpa at 6 and Dom at 7?

Does it really matter who is 6th and 7th?  :)   I'd probably say Dom at six and Obekpa at 7, but foul trouble could change that very quickly.  I am not happy right now with the roster.  The NCAA is killing us right now.  Jones and Obekpa are not 25 minute players at this point.  You can't overextend role players before they are ready.  Sanchez and Bourgault are so huge for this team.

Luckily, I have all the confidence in the world with Harrison, Greene, and Garrett. All three of those guys need 30 minutes.  We are ucky to have a kid like Phil Greene.

Marillac, Obekpa is in no way a role player.  Obekpa is young but a center that is and will be much more than any role player.

He is at the start of his freshman year.  I am thrilled with this kid, but let's be realistic for this year.

For what it's worth, Rothstein was taking questions on twitter tonight, he must think highly of Sanchez, Obekpa, Sampson, Jones.
If I had to interpret for him, it seems he still has questions about Phil and Branch.

and the unredshirted GG whom someone actually compared to Wes Unseld early last season as others were just comparing to Dajuan Blair.

Nobody compared Double G to Unseld.  Unseld might have been mentioned in a thread or post about Gift.

I haven't had the opportunity to see Sanchez and Marco play yet, but from what I've seen of the other new guys I'd like to see the following:

1: Harrison
2: Garrett (with Dom getting significant minutes)
3: Sampson (what a bad ass)
4: Jones (best surprise)
5: Opeka (most impressive new player)

Post December: (I can't wait for this lineup)
1: Branch
2: Harrison
3: Garrett
4: Sampson
5: Opeka

I see Gift getting less than 10 min.

With finally getting some depth, height, and versatility, I think we go dancing this year if nothing unforeseen happens like it tends to do.

What an idiot.  Our guards are the backbone of the team.  Harrison is  2n Team All-Big East selection, Phil Greene is awesome, and Branch was ranked #51 an has a year of experience.  Nobody knows anything about the frontcourt.  That is the question mark here.  What a tool.

With all of our uncertainly, it's not crazy to include our backcourt. Especially since we just played a game with Dom, Phil and Jamal in the backcourt. Harrison has to grow up. Branch has to become eligible, and so does Bourgault. Rothstein is often touting every program as a sleeper, but here, he makes a fair point. I just elaborated.

We have three freshmen and a now ineligible first year juco!  None of those freshmen are top 25 recruits.  We can hope and think positively but nobody knows a thing about how our frontcourt will fair against high major comp.  I predicted 23 wins but I'll tell you right now we have a below average Big East frontcourt without Sanchez.  Harrison and Greene combined for almost 30 ppg.  Experience > potential.

Who is more awesome Phil Greene or your other long ago favorite Geno. I am not sold on Greene at all or Harrison as a point guard for that matter. Also judging by Lavin's actions in naming Harrison at point and even going so far as to mention Pointer as a point guard I am starting to get concerned about Branch.

For what it is worth I highly recommend Marillac as a drinking partner(at least until things starting getting weird there with Baldi, Kid, Carmine, Dave and Marillac doing body shots off one another) as a guard evaluator, not so much.

WASJU is also a great drinking partner.

I would love to have Geno on this team as well as a 10-15 mpg backup.  He always had Big East backup talent IMO, but he was overextended playing superstar minutes for much of his career out of necessity.  I also think Avery Patterson would be a nice addition to this team if he was not given carte blanche shooting authority.

With that written, Phil Greene is a much, much better player.  The talent on this roster is head and shoulders above anything we saw with Norm. I'm very happy we have him on the squad, becuase things would get ugly without him.

First of all I think it would be a tough task to open against Detroit then play 3 in Charleston with Obekpa, Jones, Sampson, Garrett, Pointer, Greene, and Harrison and Sanchez, Marco, Felix, Gift, and Branch Out.

I hope the staff scraps the Gift redshirt idea if Sanchez can't make suit up for the Charleston game.

If we do go with 7 you must start
Obekpa, Sampson, Garrett, Harrison, and Greene with Pointer and Jones off the bench. We would be lacking some serious size if Obekpa gets into foul trouble.

Exactly... both Jones & Sampson will get the nod over Garret. Anyone who doesn't realize that has not seen jones play AND basically has no clue what they are yapping about.. :uglystupid2: .. btw - if u really think this teams success rests with Green & Garrett u have serious mental problems. :idiot2: ... Don't get me wrong, i love both of those kids games... but they are not the TOP of the line talents like Jones, Sampson and Branch... Get a grip maryllac!
