Finally got to see the game on replay from a friends house. Here's what I saw:
Christian Jones - Wow, freakish athlete. Looked solid defensively and rebounded well, although you can't tell much from the competition. Very adept offensively from what I saw has a nice midrange and gets in triple threat position very well. Definitely looks like he can play at the Big East level physically and skill-wise. Don't know why he was so under the radar, but glad we got him.
JaKarr Sampson - Pretty much what I expected (rebounded well, good on the boards, elite athlete), minus the good looking jumpshot. Ugly form, but good results. Nice spin move from him also. Looks good, but I think Mo had more upside offensively last year. Don't think he's an one and done, but we'll see.
Amir Garrett - Looked like he was the most improved early on. Looked better with the ball when creating for himself (some bad passes when trying to create for others). Very good on his shot today. Good effort on defense also.
Phil Greene - A close second to most improved imo. Looked much more confident out there, better shot and moved the ball around better.
Sir'Dominic Pointer - Looked about the same as last year. Had one nice move getting to the rim and finishing, but thats about all.
D'Angelo Harrison - Injury or idk what couldve happened. Wasn't into this one at all.
Chris Obekpa - Great athlete. Really liked how he went after and up for rebounds. Great timing when going up for blocks. Looked exactly what I felt he could be. Will be a key part on this team.
GG possible redshirt - I would do it if Orlando is ruled a senior. We still will get two scholarships and have two elite prospects we are looking at. No need to have empty roster spots and the more seniors you can have the better in terms of trying to win.
Marco and Orlando - I would hope they have the extra years. Think they both will be players at this level, but we'll see.
Felix possible redshirt - This one is easy. Definitely a good move considering he is still improving. Can be a very valuable 4 year player.
Overall, a lot of things to improve on but good start. We were basically without D'Lo today.
