All due respect, but Brando can go shove it!

The catholic schools have fought like hell to keep the BE together.   Georgetown and SJU especially have been steadfast in their support of the Big East, until 2 weeks ago when they needed to act in the interest of their own survival (athletically anyway).

Wow...how could you attack their loyalty...they were extremely loyal.  If anything it's the opposite of a money grab.  They are moving away from football(money)
When you're a kid from New York and you do it in New York, that lasts forever!

I think I'll do the same.    That was completely uncalled for and out of left field right?

Keep in mind the new commish Aresco is a former CBS exec, and Brando's friend and former boss.   That's got to be where this is coming from.   He thinks the catholic schools screwed his friend over.
Meanwhile, since Aresco has been hired  Notre Dame, Louisville, and Rutgers have all left.   SJU and Georgetown waited literally as long as they could!
He couldn't be more off base in his comments.

The tweet right before those was "As stated on At The Half today, "The very Presidents that vetted Mike Aresco undermined his efforts on their behalf". So much for dignity."  It's obvious this guy has an agenda since he used to work for Aresco.

I generally like the guy - but CBS's Tim Brando took to twitter with a pretty vicious attack on Fr Harrington tonight:

The Reverend from St. John's made a complete fool of himself. A colossal mistake. No integrity no compassion no regard for loyalty. A joke!

What a douche

Guess state schools and private schools can grab money but poor little STJ can't. Also wonder why he called out us specifically.

Maybe he wrote these tweets when Gottlieb was dancing provocatively in front of him

The douche called us a "have not" and lambasted all of us for hanging around as long as possible and trying to survive.  The audacity of the founding members as to not want to continue to get pummeled in this changing landscape.

I think Brando believes that the Catholic schools are bound to whatever financial arrangements the football schools and the new league President dictate to them because he thinks that Catholics Schools are not supposed to care about money. I have news for Brando; the Catholic Schools have to pay bills too.

There are a lot of things wrong with this guys cheap shots.  I'm surprised CBS is comfortable with it.

Does anyone have the email address for CBS excecutive complaints?  Leslie Moonves email address?

Just change it from the "All Catholic league" to the "All Religious League".

Extend invites to Brigham Young, Oral Roberts and Yeshiva.

He is allowed to shoot his mouth off because it is safe to pick on Catholics or Catholic institutions because there is no blowback from the public. Would he have said this about a Jewish schools leaving? In the end the C7 are not making more money, their just trying to stop losing money. He can have sour grapes all he wants but at then of the day I cannot imagine himself staying at CBS if the network no longer is the job he signed up to work for.

Agreed.
And if anything we might be losing money temporarily by forfeiting NCAA units for an earlier exit.

He should be taken to task for these comments.  This is simply unacceptable.

there's no excuse for a broadcaster to be so out of touch...especially on a topic he covers.  it's time he goes to toledo to find work.

To Mick Cronin-kudos for speaking the truth (it is all about one sport so screw the fans and volleyballers and other teams trying to get a degree--what they will get is a boat load of frequent flyer miles); there will be a coaching job for you in the "new BE".

to Tim Brando-you can be our first game heretic for the opening ceremony.  You have insulted Father Harrington, who has not always been correct, but in this case he is spot on.  Where were you complaining about ExCuse, SPitt, Ville, RU, ND and what did you ever say about Miami, Va Tech and BC.  He is the one full prejudice and what comes out of a bull's rear.

Got this message from the St. John's Alumni Office.

As you may have heard, St. John's University and the other six non-football institutions within the Big East voted unanimously yesterday to exit the conference as it is currently constituted. St. John's and its fellow institutions will now pursue a foundation of basketball-focused schools, based on the rich tradition upon which the Big East was originally established.
This is an exciting time for St. John's, as we look ahead to a promising new foundation, one that will combine elite competition with a continued emphasis on student-athlete development.
We invite you to read the full statement below from the presidents of the seven basketball member schools of the Big East conference:
Earlier today we voted unanimously to pursue an orderly evolution to a foundation of basketball schools that honors the history and tradition on which the Big East was established. Under the current context of conference realignment, we believe pursuing a new basketball framework that builds on this tradition of excellence and competition is the best way forward.

We are grateful to our Commissioner, Michael Aresco, for his exceptional leadership of the Big East Conference. We have been honored to be associated with the outstanding group of institutions that have made up the Big East. While we pursue this opportunity for our institutions, we believe the efforts of the past two years have established the foundation for an enduring national football conference.

We look forward to building this new foundation with an emphasis on elite competition and a commitment to the development of our students engaged in intercollegiate athletics. That is where we will now spend our energy as we move forward.

Just change it from the "All Catholic league" to the "All Religious League".

Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Mormon or even Religious are all politically incorrect nowadays.

How about an "All Infidels League"?
