I come to a 5 page game thread and figured everyone went to the game.  Oh wait nobody went to the game.  Leaving there I thought I was in Ann Arbor with all the Michigan fans.  Great arena.  I enjoyed it.  Only two knocks are its too closed.  You should be able to see the action from the concourse more.  Also how do you sell Nathan's Hot Dogs at one stand but the fries are separate?????

As for Sanchez I wouldn't get too concerned.  As Ted pointed out the 3 on the bench are eligible to play.  Two sitting out mandatory transfer rules.  This was not a home game and while its a few miles down the road no room on the bench etc....

There is not a lot of excitement now for the team.  When we starting winning I expect the #'s and the interest to climb rapidly.  I honestly don't think we look back for a number of years after this squad finally takes off.

As for Obekpa, the lack of depth due to Sanchez is making this kid more and more attractive to the NBA scouts.  Syracuse can hide away obvious NBA talents for two years, but we lose Moe and maybe more because of the 30 mpg they get right out of the gate.

There still should be a lot more fans than there were today.  Pitiful turnout.

Tickets were way overpriced

The conference was a selling point, no doubt.  But Lavin still has himself, the staff, NYC, MSG, getting guys to the league and what will be a quality hoops conference.  There are plenty of examples of coaches that have recruited well when they were not in a big name conference.  We'll be fine.

From what people said, we had a good turn out at MSG for the Fordham game.  As we start winning, the fans will show, and more than the diehards will jump on the bandwagon.  I have no doubt whatsoever about that.

Skewed.  They were taking people with seats in the new MSG upper level and giving them tickets downstairs.  Also there was a game after ours as well so 2 more fan bases to buy tickets.  Double or tripleheaders are tough to see what a crowd looks like since its a revolving door between games.

Maybe it's just me, but I could give a sht what league we play in. All that I care about is how we do. I'm in it for us. F the rest of them. We don't even need a conference if we have a coach like Lavin. We're NY. No program can claim that.

But I suppose Hofstra could steal it.

We win games, the fans will show. We saw that during Lavin's first year. Those who were at the Pitt game that year know what I'm talking about.

There was no one there for the Fordham/Princeton game.  Our game had a sparse crowd.  Considering that both teams are local, with St Francis being down the block, that was rather disappointing.  Michigan fans turned out in droves for the last game.  I guess a rare appearance in NYC, against another big time program, this was an event for their fans.

I hated Barclays.  If I never see another game there, I'm ok.  I guess if I had sprung for court level seats I would have enjoyed it more.  It wasn't worth it to pay a lot of money to see them play St Francis.

Just curious but who took the tip? CO or Jakarr?
*wipes ketchup from his eyes* - I guess Heinz sight isn’t 20/20.

Nobody commented on the Barclay Center.  We thought it was a great venue and the people who worked there were all extremely pleasant unlike the Garden.  The fodd they offer was incredibly diverse and good Brooklyn stuff.  Easy access to the arena with no 3 levels of escalator before getting to the seats.  While someone commented that it was dark, that has to do with the black colors of the Nets.  The court was well lit and we had good sight lines.

I agree that we should not go back as the under card game again.  all center court seats seemed sold to UM/WVU supporters and SJU and SF put in the corners.  That being said. they really packed the place as happens when alumni come out for their school's one appearance in town once a year.  Maybe we should play UM if we want to sell out MSG in the future and screw ExCuse

I did.  I was pissed the Nathan's hot dogs were separate from the fries :)

No seriously your right about the pleasant staff.  Its because Yormark made the staff go thru that Disney Street to Seat customer service program.

Once again C Jones failed to corral one single rebound although he did manage to get his hands on 2 defensive rebounds which he incredibly was outmuscled for with the actual result being 2 offense rebounds for St F at least one of which resulted in a put back and the foul. Sorry to say but so far C Jones has proven to be one of the worst rebounders I have ever seen. What has he gone, about a month without a rebound? I wouldn't play him another minute until he proves in practice he can board even a little bit. These are small weak opponents we are talking about not the big boys that await in the big east games. We wondered why he was under recruited. I now think he was over recruited. Sorry to seem so hard on CJ but get a rebound already.

The Barclay Center was fine. Not thrilling, but fine.
MSG's structure, their view from so many sections make it magic.

Barclay Center just feels like it has no soul.

Team played really well. We took a lead and didn't give it back, every time SF made a run, we came right back w a run of our own.
Sampson never looked better. Tremendous finisher.

And I'll add that Bourgault played his best game as a Johnny.

I'd say right now, he is as good as Sergio Luyk.
He needs to be better than that as the season progresses.

Poison do you believe that Marco played well because he got more PT or got more PT because he played well the first time he got on the court?  I know that is a crappy question that will be tough to answer, but I am just wondering because I think Marco needs time on the floor to play well. It is hard to have a guy sit on the bench and then say go hit your first shot or you're coming out.  So far this season I think Marco has thrown up any open look he has gotten because he knows he only has a few minutes to impress coach in the first half.  I think with a little more burn he could be more selective and much more productive.  We will need him down the road especially against a team like Cuse.

We played really well? You do realize we played a 2-7 St Francis team that doesn't have a player on their team that would get a sniff from us as a recruit and that Stony Brook just beat them by 16 ON THE ROAD so I guess being a notch below SB is an accomplishment. AS for Marco who I do like as a player he hit his open 2 threes and missed the rest of his shots that were contested. At least one of the 3s he made came of a lose ball scramble in which he got the ball and was wide open. Our offense continues to not run any plays to get him open or set any screens for him which makes me question why Lavin recruited both he and Max Hooper if he is not going to run plays for this type of player. But I guess everything remains rosy for those in Redmen La La Land.

So if Lavin ran ten screens for Marco and he hit five open threes and SJU won by 25 you would join those in Redmen La La Land?

Bar lay center was nice. There was less then 1000 scattered around watching our game. Seemed like we gave up to many open looks. We took care of business, and thtas what's important. It was so empty was a weird expirence.
