Disturbing stats from last nights game.
« on: December 22, 2012, 08:43:45 AM »
For those posters who have downplayed the importance of rebounding statistics,  we played a UNCA team that we had a sizable size and athletic advantage over and....... we.......

1.  Got out rebounded 40 to 30?

2.  Gave up 17 second chance  points off of offensive rebounds?

3.  Were outscored by 17 points in the paint?

It seems painfully obvious that someone is not teaching someone something.

Many games are won by team getting the most easy baskets. We give up too many and get too little. Coaches have to own and correct this.

Coaching last night was not our strong point.  We were outclassed in that area.  But it can't be ignored that in the 2nd half the team put forth minimal effort and they looked to be in Xmas hangover already.

That can be partly attributed to the fact tha Ash made adjustments at halftime.  They were carving up our trap in the first 10 minutes of the second half, when we actually managed to score.  In the halfcourt they picked apart our zone for drives to the bucket or wide open looks.  When they did miss they crashed the boards and got easy baskets.  When we finally went man we managed to tie the game down the stretch and the team showed some intensity.  Why did we wait so long to change defenses, when it was obvious the mo had been shifting for a while?

And don't get me started about our half court sets........... ::)
