Leader
« on: December 22, 2012, 09:31:51 PM »
Who is our leader?
Who was it last year?
Who was it in 2010?

I am one who feels Harrison is not a leader and I'm fine with that.  I'd rather Lavin not force him to be a leader when its not in his personality.

What do y'all feel?

IMO Harrison is the closest thing to a leader we have. Hopefully it becomes Jamal Branch because you're right, Harrison appears to not be cut out for the job. Hopefully he can become one in the future because he is only a sophomore, there is still time for him to mature.

Last year towards the beginning it looked like Stith was our leader even though he was the least talented. But, transferring mid-season is not very leader-like.

2010 no doubt in my mind it was Hardy. He called the shots on offense, dribbled the ball up well too. Was the reason we knocked off so many teams that year. Pretty sure last season he led his Italian team in scoring and to the league championship series as well.

No one stands out as a clear leader, but I'd still say its Harrison. It's tough to tell not being privy to what happens in practice.  By the end of the season it could be Sampson.

2010 Hardy was the leader.

Last year we didn't have one. We barely fielded a team and they were all frosh.

Agree with Boo.
+1 Except if Sampson becomes the leader he will lead all but Dlo and that is not a knock on Dlo just feel he is too much of an alpha dog to be led because it seems his personality leads him to march to his own drummer.

I think Branch will grow into that role over the course of this season and will be firmly established in it going into next season

I think Branch has the potential too.  But he can't do that if Lav won't give him the keys to the car.

Speaking of car.  I think JaKarr has the potential to be a leader as well.

Amir in my book is the closest we have to a leader on the team right now.

Harrison is natural choice. However, as noted, he may not be up to the task . If so, the only guys that may be options based on leadership qualities are Garrett and possibly Branch (jury out until we see how vocal he is).

Last year - probably didnt have a leader

2010 - definitely Hardy

He calls out most of plays, first one to the huddle, always pointing out to guys where they should be. He's going to be one hell of a senior someday.

Agree with Dave - Dom

I think one of the reasons 2010 was so special was that they had a lot of leaders.  I always felt like Malik was the main one but you could argue Dwight, Dj, Burrell, Paris or even Evans were.

It was Harkless last year. There were so many times last year where everyone would just wait and watch what he'd do next.

Does this team have a leader this year? If there is one, I haven't seen it. Perhaps it'll be Branch, but that remains to be seen.

Let's make that plural.

None now but Branch and DLo are a logical combination.

Branch the general and DLo his drill sergeant and sharpshooter.

The team will look towards them (and Jakarr) for victories in BE games.

I don't see a leader on this team. Just a bunch of guys who can jump really high.
