His locks are Cuse and Louisville but has us a bubble team with the next three games playing a big role in our season.

St. John's (9-5, 1-1; RPI: 68, SOS: 48)

The Red Storm actually have beaten a few semi-decent teams, but also have a questionable loss or two to offset them. Someone is going to emerge from this "middle class" in the league, and the Johnnies may be the best bet to be that club. A three-game homestand against Rutgers, Georgetown and Notre Dame is on tap, which could help define which way this is going to go.
GW: at Cincinnati
BL: UNC Asheville, at San Francisco

They are 7-8 overall and 0-2 in conference.  Their conference losses are BYU and Santa Clara which aren't terrible losses.  Out of conference they have lost to pretty solid teams.  At this point SF is a bad loss.

Need to just stay off the bubble and win in our league.  Only Cuse and Louisville are big dogs.  The rest we can overtake.  Long season left but can't leave any doubt.  Need a good stretch in the next few.

Pretty early for this but a 2-1 homestand will be great for a possible postseason.

We're going to need a few more stunners to overcome the inevitable let down games this team will have. I'd love for this team to make the tourney (obviously), but primarily for experiences purposes...especially if we are going to make a "run" next year...

At this point the only sure way to make the tourney is 12-6 or perhaps 11-7 in Big East with a few solid road wins. Got to beat those we are supposed to beat convincingly and pull off a few upsets.

We made the road harder by not going 10-2 out of conference and then a 10-8 record in Big East would have done the trick.

Is there a chance that UNC ashville will getter better and that would remove one of our bad losses? Or no matter what they do it will still be considered a bad loss because they have never beaten a BE team until now?

They are 7-8 with losses to some bad teams. That loss is going to haunt us if we are on the bubble.

They could win their conference and it still will be considered a bad loss.

I think we have a decent chance of taking two out of the next three.

The sweet taste of victory is still in our mouths.

We are on our own turf.

We've got a few guys (DLo, Garrett, Pointer) who would do anything it takes not to lose.

Sampson has of late shown signs of buying into this mentality and if Jamal Branch (who I see belonging in the group above) plays I can see us coming out of these games with a 3-2 record in the BE.

I would say we need to go 11-7 in conference in order to get in.  I think it's a longshot for us to have that record but I wouldn't rule it out.

not sure we need to go 11-7. 10-8 is worst we can be IMO. That puts us at 18-12 and we will have to win one in b.e tourney.  Last yr wvu got in at 19-13 or 19-14 and did not have any great wins and finished 9-9 in conf.  Prob going to have to get at least 2 wins over ranked teams which I think we can. We got one on road so that counts for a lot and I think comittee puts more emphasis on what teams do in conf than out.

I have us at 15-15 going into BET.  I forget, didn't they change NIT rules so that you don't need to be over 500? Does 16-16 get us in?

A lot harder since the regular season winners in the midmajor automat get in if they dont win they conf tourney. Therefore and heretonow, the number of at-large bids is greatly reduced to the NIT.

This loss hurt our NIT chances IMO as I had this game as a win. Will have to beat someone we were not supposed to now.

I said we needed to be 6-3 or 5-4 in first half of schedule and then either 5-4 or 4-6 in back half.  Nothing worse to have a realistic chance.  A split over next two is needed in worst way.
