Seton Hall Game Discussion
« on: January 24, 2013, 01:20:40 AM »
Feel pretty confident in a St. Johns win at the Garden.

When we do win, we match last year's win total - with up to 21 games still remaining to be played.

Now that we're playing some excellent man-D, I think we win.

I think we will win but it is so hard to predict a score.  Last night, against USF, was the first time I saw the Hall play all year.  I caught the beginning of their game, before ours started.  They didn't really impress me because USF looked so bad (same team that beat G'town.  Go figure!).

why is the game at the garden? this was  traditionally at carnesecca. unless it was to piss off Bobby Gonzalez  ;D i think the crowd will be very small.

Also - I hope the guys from last year rememeber the embarrassing loss that SHU handed us last year the Rock.

Agreed.  Have no idea why the RU and SHU games are being played this year at MSG.

The ND, Georgetown, Marquette, Pitt and UCONN games at MSG made sense.  All have recent NCAA success and/or are traditional powers that always play at MSG.

I still don't understand putting RU and SHU at MSG.

Throw the poor bastards a bone once in a while.  We haven't played them there in like a decade.

I agree on this but I don't think we need to play both NJ teams at the Garden. Moving forward this game will be played here every year I bet though.

I prefer we play them at The Rock though - its better place to watch a game and its 20 minutes from my house...  ha ha ha

Don't think the Rock is a better place to watch a game but I'm sure there is some bias there.  Good point on moving forward.  It will be interesting to see how games are divvied up in the new conference with less teams.

I wouldn't use that as the reason for your feelings.

Just shows how asinine our face value pricing is on the tickets.

That's a good thing. It let's people without hundreds of dollars to spend on tickets go to this with their families.
In retrospect, looking at our Georgetown, RU and ND games, we have sold the Garden far better than I expected.
Expecting sellouts is asking a lot. I saw relatively full students sections and people filling out the 100 and 200 sections.
The 300s were scattered, but that's be expected.

Remember, we didn't this well in 98-99 for many games until we were highly ranked. We win Sunday vs SH,
and tickets will be sold. New Yorkers only want to pay for a winner.

St John's has won 3 games in a row. Maybe it is time for the St John's fans to support the team and show up and rock the Garden.

I was at Rutgers and plan to be at the Hall game on Sunday.  My guess is that the crowd still isn't great.  Now, if we can beat the Hall and Depaul and build some momentum, I think the UCONN home game after the Super Bowl will draw a good SJU crowd.

Guard the three.  Guard the three.  Guard the three.  I don't need to see Seton Hall's assistants acting like they won the NCAA title a la two years ago at the Rock.

Oliver back is a boost for them.  He can hit the 3.

I want to come out in man and pressure them like we did vs  ND. I think well see Phil hit a couple of shots this game and get back into double figures.

3 wins in a row, local rival, no football, whats that eqaul? 8,000? or am I giving too much credit.
*wipes ketchup from his eyes* - I guess Heinz sight isn’t 20/20.

To get 8,000 I think we'll need Seton Hall to put a few fans in the seats.  Not sure if pmg or others who follow their program more closely feel as to whether they'll show up.  I know Rutgers had about 10 people at the Garden (granted on a Tuesday night).

I think all 10 Rutgers fans sat behind me :)

Discussion should center on Fuquan.
And then move onto Fuquan.
When there is a lull, mention Fuquan.
And then when you wrapping up, just remind evryon of Fuquan.

Absolutely right.
I'm sure the staff is yelling at the guys all practice about not being careless with the ball.    Fuquan plays some D, and will have 5 steals in a blink if we're not careful.
Plus, we shut him down offensively, and the Hall is pretty toothless.
