I don't think the two are very comparable players. Horne was a better athlete, shooter, and defender. I like Phil Greene but if he ever matured into the basketball player Paris was as a senior I would be very happy.

Felix reminds me a lot of Paris during his Freshman year.  Obviously he doesn't have the 3 point stroke Paris had but similar type of player.  Phil's problem is he never beats guys off the dribble so all of his shots are jumpers which leads to his low shooting percentage.  I can't remember the last time Phil had a layup.

Question is is he not getting to the rim because of the hip or is he just not capable of beating guys off the dribble?

I think the Geno comparison is much more appropriate

Even if Horne never developed a acceptable jumper he was going to be a productive player. Greene played ok yesterday but really does nothing well. My friend stat sheet seconds my opinion. I am not sure why people continue to see something that is not there. If a player has 3 or 4 good games and 26 terrible ones then he is terrible.

I wouldn't say he is terrible but I think he is being given a role on the team that he doesn't qualify for. Honestly I would rather have Amir have his minutes.
I rather develop Felix, send Phil to the NEC or MEAC, he'll look amazing there.. Amir deserves 22+ though.

You want Greene to transfer to the lowest level of D1 basketball?!?
A slight exaggeration but his lack hasn't convinced me that he is a upper echelon conference type player either. His inability to play guard kills me, no dribble drive , rarely ever see an outlet pass , nor any pick and roll type of ability which all big conference guards have in there arsenal. He can't take more than 4 dribbles in either direction without being spun around or forced to fadeaway

I don't have the stats in front of me or anything like that, but based on the "eye test" he seems to be a much better offensive player than Geno, and I think will continue to get better.  Hard to compare the two as they played on different teams, systems, etc, but just my opinion.  To me Phil can provide instant O off the bench or at the start of a game.  When he isn't hitting his shot, he shouldn't play.

Stats are almost identical

I think Greene will develop nicely over the next two years for us. He is playing out of position. As soon as we add another pg, Greene can play the wing.

Phil plays hard, and I think he's light years ahead of Felix at this point in terms of knowing his responsibilities on the court, both offensively and defensively.
Could Amir pull away a few of his minutes?  Yea. I agree that might not be a bad idea, especially against bigger teams.

But otherwise, Phil is our best option coming off the bench to play in the backcourt.
And again, for all his faults.. I've never seen Phil dog it.  Since his first game last year against Post, or whoever, he has always played hard.

Phil got better handle. Paris got to and above the rim. Paris also came away with some boards that was very impressive. I still hoping coaching can lift Phil up a notch.

If PG4 and Sampson are hitting their shots, they can bust a zone up with a screen or two.  Their long range twos aren't something you see from fresh/sophs.

If PG4 hits open jump shots and tear drop, he is of great value...otherwise not bringin' much value...

Phil is our best option coming off the bench to play in the backcourt.

Also, our best option starting and playing 33 minutes with meaningful contributions in big BE wins.

How can Greene come off the bench? There are no other capable guards. Felix's guard skills are raw. He's inexperienced. Maybe he should sell Greene more, but if Greene doesn't start, we have two guys in Garrett and Dom w suspect jumpers.
Greene should start. He just shouldn't be used to create or run the offense.

Correct me if I am wrong but hasn't Greene been playing through an injury? Or at least he was for awhile?

someone mentioned that coach told them ( i think at a pregame reception) that he has a torn hip labrum. obviously i hope he's not hurt, but at least that would help clarify some things. his floater in the lane is such a nice weapon and i can't remember him using it once this year. not sure exactly when he hurt it, but people seem to forget how well he played at the beginning of the season. he didnt miss in the exhibitions and first couple games, 20 pts 6 rebs 6 assts vs detroit in the opener. im thinking he'll be a good off the ball weapon as soon as he's healthy

I mentioned it and Moose and Maher were there too. That is a big injury. I am not sure how he is actually playing through it. No body falls as much as he does during a game, I wonder if it's because he is over compensating or something.
