Curse of Omar Cook. Haven't had a true point guard since he left.

I found the postgame quotes from Lavin about needing to get Christian and Felix into the Pitt game interesting.

That is odd , Jones didnt even play last night when STJ was ahead by 20 points.

He told Lavin before the game he wasn't feeling well according to other quotes from post game.

Ok, I missed that-- makes sense then.

With Greenes performance last night, I dont understand the reasoning in playing him 38 min.

He plays because there is one else that can do it. IMO a team that runs like we want to run, should have 3 point guards on the team.

The reasons are that his ever improving asst/turnover ratio is phenominal and he's a good defender and free throw shooter.  It doesn't get any better than 5 assists to 0 turnovers for a point guard in the midst of a horrible shooting night.

Another reason is that Hollywood and co., unlike us, see him in practice every day and know that he is the best alternative and deserving of playing huge/the hugest minutes.

Another reason is that Hollywood likes him or that he has compromising photos of Lavin's wife that he's using as blackmail.

Geno was a key contributor to some of the worst teams we've ever had.  Mean Joe is a sophomore key contributor to an overachieving? 8 and 6 bubble team.  Comparisions of the two are funny.

Greene doesn't deserve to be demoted, but when your wide open and standing on three point line you gotta shoot, and if Marco is there, I'd like him to be that guy.

Greene has to drive to make a difference. His off balance threes don't help the team.

Overall, we manhandled USF tonight, but they were Norm Roberts awful. We could have won by 30 if we had a point guard.
Now u sayin we could have won by 30 if, when u had us losing by 9? Whats up with that? You gatta think we awful pickin them over us at the Carn. You a Johnnie fan?

I'm not sure it matters.   There's only 2 weeks left in the season, and Branch still feels pain in his knee.   Even if he comes back, I doubt he's playing  30+ mins anytime soon.  So I think for better or worse Phil is going to see a lot of playing time.

If Branch can play effectively, but in limited time, it at least should preclude Greene playing 35 plus minutes. If we need a BE tourney win or two, Greene and Harrison will be spent playing back to back games 35 minutes or more. If Branch can't go, we obviously have limited options.

Very true.  I wasn't really counting on Branch being back at all based on some of Lavin's comments, but then I saw what Poison posted about Keady saying they are hoping to have him Sunday against Pitt.
So that does change things if he's ready to get back on the court.   In which case, say good bye to 35 mins for Phil.

Other than Geno, I can't recall another player playing as many minutes as Greene and shooting at such a terrible % over a two year period.

You are right but with Geno was there anyone any better?

Turns out there was, Cedric Jackson, who played point at Wright State, after he transferred and went on to the NBA.  Nothing worse than a boss who is so defensive that he (she) hires no one with more than his (her) own minimal competence

Cedric played at Cleveland State.

And I think it's pretty obvious that the size of Geno's biceps scared Norm so much that he didn't want to bench him..

what are you thoughts on both of these guys being injected into the lineup more often and together at the same time. Who plays? who sits?
I think both players turn it over some. If we playing team that plays the we gonna turn u over game your going to see Phil checking in. Game of match ups right. If you can get away with it some we using your term, inject them at the same time.
