10 dissapointed on a message board doesn't put lavin on the hot seat. No matter how next year goes I doubt he will be on the hot seat.

He shouldn't be, not even close to it.

Next year with no tournament he will without question be on a hot seat.  Now.....he's not.

1 top 10 class, 1 top 20 class, now adding a player that scouts claim is NBA ready right now to that mix along with the ROY, #1 shot blocker, #3 Big East scorer (if he comes back), etc. On top of all that, youth will be erased from the excuses list. Next year the talent will be there, and Hooper is supposed to solve some of our shooting woes. Lavin will unquestionably be on the hot seat if we fail to make the tourney. By tourney I don't mean NIT, I mean NCAA. People on here talk about sweet 16's and even elite 8's before the season...hell, let's try MAKING the tourney first. 1 time in a decade won't cut it and our already thin fanbase will be alienated even more if we lay another egg next year.

Next season is Lavin's make or break season.

I still think he makes it.

That is fair and making the tourney consistently is his stated goal. For the money SJU pays him, anything short of that should be evaluated aggressively.

You are absolutely WRONG about that.

If he doesnt make the tourney next year, with the team he will have that year (Karr, Orlando, D'Angelo....) it is over for him.   If he doesnt win next year, he wont be landing any big 2014 recruits, and following seasons will not be more promising.
Next year is make or break for Lavin.

Surprising reference by Coach,lol

“@VinParise: Steve Lavin: "Our young team reminds me of Villanova the past 2 years...molding a young bunch of guys for future success & postseason play."”

I won't blame the game on the referees because when you turn the ball over like they did its nobody's fault but ur own but still this could have been the worst called game I have ever watched there was no consistency in the calls and the  no call when Marco was shoved to the ground during the in bound pass was horrible and was the momentum killer

I don't know who could be a great point guard with the peices and system we have, but in the open court branch is legit as it gets. The problem is we don't rebound very well, and when we do our 'bigs' would much rather bring the ball up themselves rather than make an outlet pass. Wonder if the term  'outlet pass' has ever been said by lavin?
*wipes ketchup from his eyes* - I guess Heinz sight isn’t 20/20.

Can we PLEASE stop with the "everyone is ignoring Marco" posts.  He doesn't move without the ball.  When you guys think he's open, there is usually a defender a few feet away, waiting for the pass to be made.  He has to learn to move more to get open.

Branch was horrendous tonight.  Jakarr had a bad game.  Amir made some dumb plays and Sir Dom gave us nothing.

You can cite Phil's shooting % all you want but he was still our best player tonight.  The team looked terrible.

Finally, I'm not big on knocking coaching moves but playing the walkon in the first half and calling the TO when we were getting the momentum were 2 bizarre moves.

Phil was without question our best player tonight (barring the idiot lob at the end)

I've been saying it all year, but someone needs to sit down with JaKarr and explain to him he is incapable of hitting an off balance jumper from long range. Game after game he launches these 15 to 18 footers while either falling backwards or sideways. If you are going to take that shot, set your feet. Or better yet, go to the hoop.

+100 about Jakarr.  He needs to take fewer off-balance jump shots and develop more of an inside game.

Arcidiacono never wanted SJU. His entire family went to Nova.

I don't believe you can blame this  on branch, we are without question a better team when he's  on the court or would you like Phil Greene to be bring up the ball all game? the problem is everyone on the team is afraid to shoot and when they do where is obekpa for the tip in he must never have heard of offense. That's where I look to Lavin to teach that

Lot of lazy, uninspired play. Often times during the course of season I've had a reccuring thought. Maybe we need a few local recruits ,maybe not as highly ranked but good solid players, to whom, Not in our house  really means something. That crazy intensity that comes with defending your home court. Your Home Court. And yes , I love getting players from all over the country.
