Best BET memories
« on: March 11, 2013, 03:10:04 PM »
Since this is the last one as we know it, here is one man's list.
1. Rowan jumper / Berry block to win championship over Cuse
2. Goodwin sitting on top of backboard with WE ARE SJU ( I was only 9 or 10 so it was nice of Billy to acknowledge me) poster after winning championship vs BC
3. Pearl destroying Gtown, punching Ewing, crossing over Michael Jackson so bad he falls down, then Pearl motioning for him to get up so he can do it again, and Thompson being forced to call off the press.
4. BET Championship over Uconn
5.  Cuse vs Uconn 3 ot game

Was at the Rowan/Berry game in 1986 as a 13 year old.. That is clear number one for me.

Beating Uconn in the final was also great in 2000.

Beat Uconn in 2000 final.. Beat Miami by 1 in the semis

lost to Uconn in '99 final. Got blown out, so it was nice to get some payback. Those were fun years.

Funny, I remember things better from the Mullin/ Berry teams than from Artest / Barkley team. Don't have an explanation especially since I liked both equally???

We won one from the Mullin, Berry, Barkley era.
Artest only played two years so really the only period where we should have won and din't was Sealy years.

Funny from 1987 thru 1991, a stretch of 5 straight years, SJU lost in the 1st round every year.

1883 title game--still have my mint condition SI with Billy Goodwin's picture on the cover.  That team would have gone to the final four if Jeff Allen had not gotten hurt.  The combo of 10 fouls at the center position was a strength.  Plus sweet David Russell and Chris.  Least we not forget Kevin Williams

Okay, this isn't the best memory, but it's a nice one, because it showed pride. The 93-94 Johnnies struggled w out a competent point guard. Half way through the season, the best player on the team, Shawnelle Scott, a true giant, got hurt, and didn't return that season.

Right before the first game of the season, the entire team shaved their heads. It didn't lead us to the championship, but it was nice to see the team show the fans that unity was important to them. They beat Pitt in the first round.

Three tournament championships is probably more than any other programs besides Gtown, Cuse and Uconn.  There have been too many one and done's, but for all of Cuse's success in this league, they have five.

Artest's freshman year: Rony Seikaly was in the stands, and being taunted by fans behind him. He turned around, said something nasty, then grabbed his crotch, and what he had in his pants went down to his knee. Ah, memories.

Your favorite BE tournament memory is Ron Seikaly's cock? That might explain our different tastes in cheerleaders.

I suppose if you post one who doesn't have a rictus grin that makes me want to dress like Batman and fight her, my taste may change.

I have a great idea for a reality show. Freak Island. Can get contestants from this board.
Marillac and his Taurisi/ Geno threesome. LJSA and his Batman costume's and fascination with Greek men's genitalia. Fun and his Vagina bong and Marco Baldi who forced several members of this board to do body shots with him at a forum gathering gone terribly awry. Heck you can throw in Carmine and Bobre what with there man love for Phil Greene and Sean Evans respectively.
I'd watch this!
