Steve just starting out. Disappointment relative to expectations. Down the road Steve might be in the conversation of our best coach ever. If your thinking big time in a hurry, and your out of patience, you can hopefully find something else that interests you, or you can root for the guys we got to get better. For right now we got a great new league to look forward to, and the university in the best shape ever to continue investing in the program. The loss to Nova the other night bothered me plenty, but there is good stuff to look forward to, and I still think Steve our best chance to be good on a regular basis.

No you don't get it, it set the program back a year and secondly if we stink then why do care so much to post when you spent all that time laughing at people who did nothing but criticize Norm when the program was a laughingstock.

No, I get it

No you don't.  Go start 100 threads on BEB and argue with the same 2 people.  I don't care anymore.

Good points by Fordham.   Especially about us not having to start over In year 4.  We're building.
But again, Norm should never be the point of comparison.

Agreed but I didn't make this thread someone else did.

The thread itself is silly.

Any way you look at it, the team still sucks and we have to watch other teams play meaningful games in March. Norm and Lavin still have that in common

Baldi in fairness, Lavin got us into the NCAAs in year one, and even this year -  which was a disappointment - he still won more conference games than Norm ever did.

I expected more, but were not that far off.    Still frustrating though.

Got to NCAA with Norms players and Dunlap running the show.

The dumbest argument and no Dunlap did not run the show.

So now Lavin gets criticism for excelling in his first year before he could recruit anyone.

Put it to you another way.

Lavin should have intentionally tanked that year just so people could say "Wow Norm really sucked" and then Lavin would have been given 4-5 years to just to make SJU credible again.

He did try to tank it by benching Evans

That was Dunlap.  Didn't you know you just said he called the shots.  Now you are claiming Lavin called the shots?

The funny thing with the people defending Lavin is no one has actually said they thought Lavin did a good job coaching this team. Pretty telling.

Look this isn't the Norm years when it was obvious to most people that he was in over his head. I don't think anyone really thinks Lavin should be fired. I do think he did a real bad job this year. Especially the last month of the season.

I still think he's the right man for job.

I'm confident in the future of program.

The funniest thing is pretty much everyone knows Baldi just posts things to anger people and usually goes against the grain. Yet Choz is promoting Bluto as the voice of reason and Fordham is arguing with him :)
BTW has anyone noticed that Fordham argues with everyone except RedDot/Maine QB.

No Dunlapis the reason Evans was allowed back on the court. Lavin has 20 assistant coaches, 1 worse than the other come game time

You do realize that that is exactly what Fun and I have been posting right? I might be a little more critical of his game coaching but again I think EVERYONE wants Lavin here.

I've never had any particular gripe with anything you or Fun have posted.

if dom makes a similar leap next year, can he play some 2 for us?  obekpa sanchez sampson pointer on the floor at the same time would be really interesting

You want to give a kid who can't shooting the starting SG position?

Dunlap was running the show last year, with a NBA first round pick...how did that turn out? Lavin is the Coach, if he gets the blame, give him the credit.

What's changed:

Norm - one step forward, two steps back.

Lavin - Two steps forward, one step back.
*wipes ketchup from his eyes* - I guess Heinz sight isn’t 20/20.

Good summary Boo.
sounds about right to me too.

I think we'll see some new wrinkles in terms of offensive strategy.  I can't imagine how that's not a priority for the staff.

Also, I don't foresee any transfers.  I think everyone is back.   Except gift, of course.
