I want either high profile tough games, or absolute cupcakes.
No UNCA, no Iona, no st Bonnie.     Enough of these mid majors.

Syracuse or Columbia.   No in between games.

There is no risk or reward in playing Syracuse. They always kill us.

We are their mid-major.

True that

There is no risk or reward in playing Syracuse. They always kill us. And the logic of a true cup cake is flawed. We have lost to those too.

Agree with you about the true cupcake thing.  It's easier said than done to find a team you're guaranteed to beat.

Huge upside though in playing Syracuse.   We go head to head with them for more recruits than any other team.
If we're really turning the corner, beating them creates huge excitement.  HUGE.
And losing isn't that big of a drain, because its been expected lately.

Syracus loses a lot of players after their season ends.  Johnnies are not.  I like St John's chances a lot on 12/17.  First time in a long time that Syracuse is young.

What makes you think that Lavin will put everyone on the floor that we expect him to?

Rumor is we are hiring the unemployed Syracuse "tutors".

I'm sure it will be interesting to see who is on the floor for both teams.  But Cuse is due for a lot more turnover - even their coach could be gone. They don't have the clear advantage over a rebuilding St John's that they enjoyed to past two years.

" B pro team I think. As every year, there are universities that come to play in Paris and then Rome"

So to recap Marco's tweets it looks like they are taking an August trip to Paris and Rome which includes a game against a French B-League pro team and various University teams.

He also mentioned how you live and learn and how he learned a lot this season.  (Cue Poison for a remark ;) )

Amir also definitively tweeted something alluding to his plans for next year being play for the Reds this summer and coming back to St. John's in August.

I would have the guys bang the crap out of each other in practice to toughen up our defense.  They need to learn to fight through screens rather than giving up and letting shooters take open or comfortable threes.

I would also have everyone of our guys shoot 500 jumpshots per day.  I'd stress moving the ball via the pass rather than the dribble and I would start with layup drills that should have been learned in CYO ball.
