Went down to Nike EYBL this morning. Great event. Saw Sean Miller, Brad Stevens, Josh Pastner, Mick Cronin, and Ed Cooley just for the head coaches. I would be lying if I think less than 100 schools were in attendance. I did say hello to Darrick Martin who appears to be a good guy. Brad Stevens smiled at me when he saw my St Johns jacket.
Watched Oakland Soldiers for a bit but Stanley Johnson was not playing. Jabari Bird is really good in transition.
Team Scan, Diallo didn't do much except board but McCullough has improved so much on both ends. He will be a one and done at Cuse and a Top 5 pick in 15 draft. Larrier is a good player and I think would be a worthwhile recruit. Chambers, and Newkirk also looked good.
LI Lightning. I really don't like Carrington. Too left handed. Loose handle. Threw up 2-3 air balls. Govan is soft but I like his game. He is a good transition 4. Santos needs development but someone told me Lamont Hamilton as a similar player. I can see that and will be a true 5 at the college level. He didn't play a lot until later in the game. Martin was fixated on this game.
Expressions Can't say enough about Terrell and Abu. Would be a great package deal. Terrell is a strong kid who can shoot ok and bull his way to the hoop. Kind of reminded me of Woodal from Pitt. Abu is not raw, good athlete rebounder and ball handler. Would be a good 4 at the college level. Didn't see enough of his offensive game though. Cooley and his asst were all over the two.
Saw Playaz, Briscoe is a really good guard and is aggressive to the hole. Kyle Anderson was there watching them play
