Current Wish List
« on: June 15, 2013, 08:39:17 PM »
1. Preferably by a lot, getting Whitehead, but Terrell ok too.

2. Two interior bangers be it Delgado or JUCOs to help compensate for loss of Gift, Orlando and potentially one other player.

3. No transfers and everyone completes full academic year.

4. We win all but one out of league games (ok maybe two) finish in top three or four in BE, make Big Dance and win at least one game, preferably two.

5. Be so successful next season that Diallo wants to play here.

6. Joe 3 Bobble Head Night sell out at MSG with a victory over Cuse.

Solid, realistic goals. Really want Whitehead and/or Diallo. Those guys would help us keep consistency as our current team graduates/jumps to pro's.

I like it.  Although I admit Whitehead is the only recruit I know anything about.

Let's have one season without a player being ruled ineligible, pulling a groin muscle, transferring or quitting.

As long as the bobblehead comes with a medium tee shirt on it I'm all for it. Heck that should be a gift for season ticket holders

I think the bobblehead should not only come with a t-shirt with it's name on it, but there should be at least 7 extra shirts also with names on it. That way, you change the name of your bobblehead, anytime you want.

I like your list Paultz, seem like attainable goals for the most part.

It's hard to figure out though what our priorities are after Whitehead in the '14 class.   We've been mentioned with the new England guys Terrell and Abu, but are we really making a push?  We've never been strong in that area before.
I'm interested to see where the staff spends their time this summer.

And fwiw, obviously I'd prefer only one loss in the non-conference; but if we take care of business with everyone BUT Syracuse and Wisconsin - that'll still look pretty good.

Good list but with all due respect, I think making the NCAA tournament should be #1

Not a prioritized list, just my random thoughts.

1. Rysheed Jordan is eligible
2. Rysheed Jordan stays eligible.
3. Tournament run.
4. Rysheed Jordan is eligible.
5. No transfers.
6. Whitehead commits.

Why would you worry about Rysheed being eligible?  He's enrolled in SJU summer school and as far as I know, no issues around eligibility...  Just because we had a bit of bad luck before doesn't mean that Rysheed is destined for the same.  Kid is ready to go...

My wish list is:

1) Harrison comes back focused.  The kid is a killer.  When he is on his game, there aren't more than 3 better shooting guards in the NCAA.  I truly believe that.  Harrison is a huge key to our success.  He's been a bit maligned and forgotten.  I hope he uses that as a chip on his shoulder.  Not many can match his scoring ability out there.

2). We advance at least one round in the NCAA's.  I think this is something that is a minimum for us.  We really should.  Frankly I have even higher hopes but am being a bit cautious.

3). We land a solid 14' class, which I actually think is an obvious outcome.  We all know Lavin can and will land a good 14' class.  This past season, Lavs landed Rysheed late when most thought we might be done with recruiting for the season.  Instead we landed the #17 player in the class and got a year out of Sanchez.  Lavin will be fine here.

Overall, I think these are attainable goals.  We have maybe the deepest team we have ever had.  Look at the kids we have at the 10-13 spots and you see our depth.  We have guys like Hooper and Bourgault, two nice shooters trailing our lineup.  Best and deepest SJU team we have had in a long, long while.  I'm not sure who we can't match up with.   Very excited about the season ahead of us.  The Phoenix rises...

My sentiments exactly. D. lo  w his head on straight will really help us. We have enough talent that it would be hard to double team anyone. Although, I would love to get Whitehead, he s not the only fish in the pond. Hopefully well also reel in a couple of quality bigs.

Whitehead, Dialo, and Delgado would be an amazing class, and one that I think Coach Lavin could reasonably bring in.

I would love to see Jordan and Whitehead in the backcourt together.

I am not hearing anything...very far removed.  I am just trying to cover my tracks from the 15 mistake :)
