Unless Greene is redhirted or Harrison changes his mind about Baylor he is not going to play. I can see Lavin rotating him in and out for no apparent reason in 7 second intervels followed by 2000 posts on why he is not playing. The curse of Mullin. Outside of one decent Rowan year we have never been able to get/ utilize one dimensional shooters. Don't see that changing based on this roster and Lavin's offense. More a numbers game issue than coach's lousy offense issue.

Whoa!!!!!!
They played a beer company. I am glad Hooper was drilling threes against Stella Artois, but Stella is brewed in Belgium and they have better things to do there than play basketball. So basically be my guest if you want to rip Avery "set shot" Patterson but to bring up Larry Legend is blasphemy!

Prediction Hooper makes less than 20 threes all year.

BTW since Sanchez is named after my favorite sandwhich place( Primos blows away Jersey Mike's), he will be my favorite player this year. My standards are at an all time low

Interesting bet on Hooper.  I might take that.

I wish he was laying money out for that Harrison guarantee that he'd be gone.  I think the the Hooper prediction has a similar result.  Time will tell.

With our weak OCS he will get ample time to meet the  target noted.

When the season starts and Harrison is on the team I will admit that for once I was wrong. As of right now he might have just wanted a free trip to Europe.
As far as Hooper goes I don't see him getting enough time or touches to be effective. Where is the time going to come from? Jordan, Branch, Baylor, Pointer are all better players I would assume and Lavin loves the Circle. You are not going to play 10 or 11 guys unless you are running and pressing.

Have to disagree. He is our only legitimate backup small forward. Pointer isn't going to play 38 minutes a game. If Hooper continues to shoot like this, he will get 10-12 minutes a game easy. Talent determines how many guys will play, not style of play.

I've been predicting that Hooper won't do much this season and that people shouldn't get their hopes up, but I think it's crazy to think he won't hit 20.

I predict he hits eight in a single game against one of the crappier opponents, so that's only 12 over the next 36 or so games.

Dom gets into foul trouble like a clock tics. There are minutes to be had at the small forward spot. Max isn't the only option though.
*wipes ketchup from his eyes* - I guess Heinz sight isn’t 20/20.

Yeah, that's what I was going to say.  Can't disagree with WASJU's assertion that he won't be taking time from the guards and in some games I would imagine we'll see some 3 guard sets.  In those games Hoops numbers might dwindle.  Lets see if he can defend true d1 players.  Nice to confirm he really has that range though.

Sampson is also a 3. Lavin can play Sampson,Sanchez and CO at the same time giving Dom a break. That said, I expect Hooper to get his share of minutes. Hes not going to be a starter, but a nice contributor.

A zone and oblockpa backing him up will help hide defense deficiencies.

Hooper doesn't need to be a defensive monster, especially in a zone.  He's a 3pt specialist.  Plenty of games, we will have foul trouble or in need of outside shooting.  Hooper will certainly get minutes because he's a true 3pt gunner and I don't think a pretender.  He isn't going to wow with athleticism or anything else and doesn't have to.   To say he won't have 20 treys all season is silly IMO.  Kid will be a big help in some games for us because he's got good height, can get his shot off in small space and we have a new"offensive coordinator" who will run plays to get his shots off.  Remember that even if he's in the game he'll be a problem.  If teams are locking him and Dee up, somebody else is open for dunks or back doors...

While today's competition was not a good guage of team potential, I would love to understand why Amaker would not play Hoop at Harvard.

PS-what a name for a shooter.

A true freshmen on a good team which probably already had a good amount of shooters. Something we lack.

For the record I am not saying Hooper isn't a good shooter, I just don't see where his minutes come from. Branch, Harrison, Pointer, Sampson, Obepka, Sanchez and Jordan deserve to play and will get around 25 minutes a game. Unfortunately Greene will probably get around those minutes as well. That equals 200 minutes if I am not mistaken. If they are left over minutes probably would go to GG. Where are the minutes coming from?

Hooper is getting minutes over Gift right now because we need scoring.  Hooper had 31 points yesterday.  What makes you think there will be zero come season time?  Even if Hooper is good for only 8 or 10 minutes a game, he can have an impact.  As some have said, there are games when Sir'Dom is in foul trouble and we will need another SF in there.  A guy who will likely lose some minutes and not play 25/game is Greene because of Branch's improvement and Rysheed's emergence.
