IMO, our biggest recruits for this year are JaKarr and Obekpa. If they stay, we can probably get by with a couple of extra Juco and/or 150 recruit.

2015 is what we need to worry about.

I find it astonishing that we talk so much about these guys going pro and getting drafted.
We are the only ones that have them on the NBA radar. The NBA certainly doesn't.

It doesn't matter what the NBA thinks, it's what the kids and their family think.  There are so many cases of personal financial burdens that far outweigh common sense, when it comes to leaving early.

The family situation changes things, but if they want to play in the NBA, the NBA's opinion is kinda important.

i think we're getting what we hoped we'd get from the lavin hire.

we have top one hundred players who we hope get coached up enough to make a solid run in march.

the coaching staff can do that.

we're not going to get top twenty five players in the forseeable future, especially since the big east morphed into a lesser conference.

we're not ucla, and by the looks of things, we'll never be.
BTW - careful what you say - most schools are GLAD they're not UCLA this week - ha ha ha - strike 3, you're out Alford! (sorry cr, I had to do it)

TV execs, advertisers, and "pundits" care about the strength of the conference.
Kids care about getting to the NBA.   The number 1 pg in the country just signed with SMU, and last years top draft pick went to UNLV after being a top5 recruit.   They could have gone anywhere, and they went to the Mountain West and American Conf.

If Jakarr and Jordan get drafted Lavin will continue to get top recruits.

Also, conference realignment is what made you realize we'll never be UCLA?  Really?

So true.  Kids want to get to the pros and they will pick the coach that gives them the best chance of getting there.

Right on. In my opinion, our most important tool in recruiting is Steve Lavin, and yes, his success with these guys will determine what crop he lands next. As well it should.
