It's great but we are probably going to need to replace to quality players after this year - where are they coming from..?
Who are we still recruiting hard in 2014 class..?
How would you feel about 2014 if both CO and JK returned next year? I believe that is a strong possibility.
I think they will too. But that just gives us 1 center, 1 power forward. (2 if you count Jones) On the whole roster.
There would still need to be several additions.
Do you not count jones Desco? People forget that those are the players that made up our front court last year, as freshmen, and we were still a bubble team.
Do I want to add quality bigs this year? Absolutely. Do I think it is the end of the world if we don't? No, unless 1 or both of those guys leave and then we could be in trouble. But still I'm confident enough in our guards who by then will be seniors, to lead us.
Nah, I do count Jones Mase. I put him in parenthasis only because we've seen so little of him. So I'd worry about counting on big minutes from him, until I know more what he can do But either way 3 frontcourt players on the whole team, isn't good planning. things happen. Injuries, suspensions, foul trouble.
I'm not saying coach won't find recruits. But the question was are we ok if Obekpa and Sampson return. And I don't think that's enough, no. It still leaves us thin.
With how good our guards will be in 2014-2015, we could easily roll out Dom at the four. Dom has been effective at the four in smaller lineups. Hooper was said to have played the four in Europe and was reportedly good on the glass. In a pinch, Hooper could play the four in a 2-3. He'd be a nightmare to guard on the other end. Add those two to the Junior version of Christian Jones.
I can't see either Sampson or Obekpa leaving after the season and certainly can't see both going. If we lose one, Coach will certainly bring in at least one big to replace them. If we didn't lose anyone, I would be fine with a front court of Obekpa, Sampson and Jones with Dom and Hooper behind them. You add one decent big to that group and it all of a sudden becomes a deep unit.
