Sanchez reminds me of.......

James Scott his Junior year. Shows flashes of being really good but disappears and is a non factor for large stretches of games. Scott after sitting out a year had a very good senior season. Sanchez obviously does not have that luxury so he has to figure it out much sooner.

We heard he was inside , outside player. Maybe he and coach Lavin can narrow his role. Might help the guards if they know his spot and he can look for it there. He can still board on the defensive end. Now if he can't shoot, that won't work.

Kyle Cuffe. Big and soft.

I don't think he is soft. He is not a bad rebounder and tries to block shots. Lack of assertiveness seems to be more out of confusion than lack of toughness.

 I like Sanchez as a player. The crappy part is that he only has one season.   He can do so many other things to contribute if he isn't shooting well and scoring the ball.   Handles, passes, rebounds, blocks very well.     Jack of all trades, master of none..   Useful player for this team

Orlando Sanchez is exactly like Batum...if Batum were wearing a 25 pound weighted vest playing in deep, loose sand with ankle weights.

I make him out to be kinda like Donald Emanuel when things not going well. This thread is great. How can anyone not like this thread. We were told right off that Orlando does a lot of little things. Thats what makes a good comparison so challenging. Who does Sampson remind you off? BE player of the year? An NBA prospect. I would hope so, and will continue to pull for the guy. Close.  Diaw is 7 yrs older.  But why let that get in the way of a poor attempt at humor.

Cuffe isn't close.   He was terrible.

In the first place, Cuffe averaged 12 and 7 as a senior, whereas Sanchez is averaging 6 and 5 as a 30 year old. Cuffe's junior year, 8 and 5, is better than what Sanchez has done this year. He is perhaps the most over hyped SJ player since Felipe Lopez and Chuck Sprolling. In the second place, it wasn't a statistical comparison, it was a stylistic one. Cuffe, big and soft, bumbling around the perimeter rather than using his physical skills to his advantage, ditto Sanchez. Don't give up on him though, he killed Fordham and we still have the mighty Dartmouth Big Green on tap.

Remember Scott came in as "Great Scott" and averaged a triple double in JUCO or something. That first yrear I saw glimpses but overall he just looked confused. I see some nice glimpses from Sanchez, he just looks confused to me. Maybe it is his advanced age. -That was for Moose.

I think Sanchez will get it together and be a BIG factor as the year goes on.  You can see he has a great touch  .... just needs to get a little comfortable....as the year goes on there will also be a lot more interior passing from him.....

One guy is a 11 year NBA veteran the other is a college senior, all things considered it is close. Generally if you are in college at 24 when you graduate people will come see you when they are not feeling well.
