Jordan w 14, and 8

I think that our guys need to be motivated to play well. We are not one of those teams brings it night in and night out. We phoned it in vs Columbia. Should have destroyed that team. Part of that was Lavin. He had what I thought was a gameplan that allowed Columbia to stay in the game. The more he avoids the press, the more he gives the other teams a chance to beat us.

Big game.  As I've said 100x, I think sweeps will be hard to come by, but if we steal this one on the road it'll be a sweep.  I think Coach does a great job getting  the guys up for big games and this is the first game in the New Big East on New Year's Eve.  Doesn't get too much bigger.  I think we matchup very well with Xavier.  Even though I think Christon is an NBA PG, I'd rather face him than a speed demon like Tim Frazier of Penn State.  We have a lot of guys that can defend bigger guards like Christon.

I don't know the score, but hard to predict a win at Xavier against a very good team with a nearly Cameron-type home court advantage.  I think we are likely to lose it, but if we win we will really make a statement.

Your usual glass is half full view of our prospects not in place for Xavier?  I think this will be our first statement win:

St Johns 80 Xavier 72
Tight battle but Jakarr goes for 20 and 10 in his home state, Dee chips in 18, Sheed 15 points and 6 assists. Sanchez 10 and 10, and Obekpa with 5 blocks.

On another note, would like lavin to get a conventional lineup together

Starters: Obekpa, Sanchez, Sampson, Harrison, and Jordan
Key Reserves: Pointer, Greene, Branch
Based on Need: Gods Gift and Hooper
Not in Rotation: Marco and Felix

As for Minutes
Obekpa 20
Sanchez 20
Sampson 27
Harrison 27
Jordan 25
Pointer 25
Greene 20
Branch 20
Hooper and Gift I guess share the balance of 16

I would not mind seeing Greene play a few minutes less and Sanchez a few minutes more. Too many guys obviously in rotation.

The current team is more talented then the team that went into Cameron and beat Duke. The 90's version seemed to play smart and not make mistakes that this team does. Still we are not playing Duke, we are playing Xavier. We have more talent and depth. Coach figures out how to use his depth, we close out on shooters, we play well in the 1st half and we win 82-75.
