Carmine you watch all the games like most of us who post regularly do.  The offense and ball movement today was a million times better.

Than why did we score no more points than we usually do?  In fact: regulation scoring average last four 71.5...last night 69????

So if the offense flowed and we got more open looks and points in the paint and we had a point who was running something and we had the best ball movement all season...shouldn't we have...you know...scored more points???
Because we had a nice lead and they slowed the game down last 5 minutes using most of the 45 second clock. We played good and didn't allow them Quick shots.

Can somebody explan the rapid reaction on ESPN. It seems it almost appears after an SJU loss or barely scraping by with a win. When we beat somebody solid it does not appear am I just being paranoid?

Road game. Probably didn't cover it.

Lack of free throws, dlo missed some open 3's, butler worked the clock, etc..

You may be right, and it's scaring me.  I'll try to tone it down.  But don't I make a valid point?

What straws?  People are raving about the "new" offense and we scored less than points than we've been averaging in recent games. Just backing up points with facts.  If anything,  defense and rebounding seemed keys of the victory to me.

Plus, (Bobre alert) Triangle was the best player on the floor for us in two of the last three he played, right?  Yet the sentiment of the board could be summed up by this POG nomination; "Phil because he was back at the hotel" and this beut: "We should feed Phil raw chicken before every game"???

I must admit, that is pretty funny though.

We played Dartmouth man.  Dartmouth.  I could have been the best player on the floor.

You again live in a Circular Fantasy world where you think people hate your bestie.  Phil Greene is a 2 guard.  He should be backing up Harrison and spelling Branch and Jordan ONLY when any of them need a rest or are in foul trouble.  He should NOT be playing more minutes than them and should not be trying to 'run' whatever offense we run.  When he gets the ball on the wing instead of dribbling around and killing clock or taking a fadeway long 2 or 3 he should drive the damn lane where he can use his explosiveness to get a layup, get fouled or put up a floater.  If Phil stuck to what he was good at and played a more acceptable # of minutes nobody would throw around pot shots.

As for scoring less points lets see.  We scored more against Hall and promptly gave the game right back to them because we wanted to 'score'.  We took the air out of the ball vs Butler to limit the possessions.

I'll accept your premise, so it's his poor defense and rebounding that should limit his minutes.  Either way, the team plays better with branch and jordan getting a lot of playing time.

We played Dartmouth man.  Dartmouth.  I could have been the best player on the floor.

1) Correction - We played BE foe Providence AND Dartmouth.  Rectangle was our best player in two of his last three.

2) I would never question your obvious basketball prowess; But if playing against the ivies was so easy,  than why did our best player go 2 for 6 from the field including 1 for 4 from downtown for a grand total of 9 points?  Somebody had to step up or we might have lost.  Since I hear your redshirted or academically ineligible or facing Ncaa sanctions or something or other, that somebody for the second time in two games, was Mean Joe.

3) I like your apt description of me living in a "circular fantasy world".  That's good.  However, I like to think of my fantasy world as tubular...totally tubular.

You don't need to correct me.  I was just mentioning one of the games was against juggernaut Dartmouth.

Even the sun shines on you know what some days.  Greene's #'s against non BE teams is better than BE teams.  I think Fun posted that earlier this year.  Harrison had a bad day.  Just like Greene had a good one.  Shit happens :)

They are facts.  Kind of like you and your 'we scored less than the less 2 games schpeil (sp)'.  Can't have it both ways Phil.

You're backing up points with irrelevant facts. Just using points scored in a game, when there are so many other variables which affect that, is useless. Butler did a good job shutting down our break, so we scored the majority of our points in the halfcourt and still shot 52%and scored nearly as many points as we did in the games you cited. Plus, when you only shoot 5 FT, its like playing the game in running time. My guess would be SJU has a lot less possessions in this game than in the other ones. I would look at it 180 degrees opposite of the way you are...we didn't get many fast break buckets or freebies and we still scored around our average for the past few games.

Saying our offense was better against DePaul because we scored a few more points against a running team like that is like saying a QB played well because he threw for over 400 yards, regardless of context. Was it Peyton dissecting the Patriots or (more likely) was it a QB whose team was down three TDs and throwing on every down against a prevent D? Just going by points scored is way oversimplifying it.

I guess we won' t hear from Linda for a few days.  "She'll" be back in time to predict a Creighton win.

Hey dumbo, sorry I didn't come on after an impressive win against the other leagues bottom feeder but I had more important things to attend to and honestly didn't even watch the game.  I am glad you get your jollies from beating Butler as at least we know that the Johnnies are not the worst team in the conference.  But just remember one thing, whether we win the next game or even the next 6 games, the bottom line is this:  IF WE DONT MAKE THE BIG DANCE, THE SEASON WILL BE VIEWED AS A COMPLETE FAILURE,  Mind you, I did not state this at the the start of the season but this was echoed by the majority of posters on all of the sites.  So I tell you what, just so that I don't have to respond to nitwits like yourself for the remainder of the season, I will wait till the end of the season to return to this site and echo my thoughts on the big picture.

Just to set the record straight however, it was I who questioned how recruiting had slowed down some time ago.  It was I who took issue with Mr. Lavins BS when all others on this site and the other one would term his BS coach speak.  I find it quite humorous how many of the so called fans on this site have suddenly come to realize all I have been saying for some time now, but thats what small minds do, they copy.  lol

So win or lose, Ill see you all at the end of the season.

Peace
