Butler Game - Player of the Game
« on: January 25, 2014, 06:07:44 PM »
My vote goes to Sampson, this was by far his best game of the year.   Very efficient with the ball, and he passed out of double teams on multiple occasions.   This is the kind of development we've all wanted to see.

That said, Branch played great again and that shouldn't be overlooked.   He's a key cog in the wheel.

I voted for Jordan.. Are those numbers correct? They match ESPn boxscore, but no way did I think Sampson had 27... and I'm almost positive that Jordan had 16pts.

Yea, I still think he played great, but you're right.  I usually go by ESPN, and they're way off this time.
I think the numbers should be right now.

Went with Branch, kept the offense going and I think he was with stoping Butler's last run to take them out of the game by calming down the offense.

Sampson and Branch are the players of the game. Branch's 8 assists should keep him in the game. I hope Greene feels better, but I also hope that this is a clear message that without him on the floor against a BE opponent the ball moves much better.

I can't give it to Coach Lavin for the second game in a row.  Tough to choose between Jakarr's stat line, Branch's 8 dimes,  and Sheed's great game.  I have to lean toward Rysheed.

Don't mean to be mean, it just seems Lavin needs things taken out of his hands to figure who his best players are.
Honestly I didn't get all the Branch hoopla but the last two games he has played with confidence. It really is hard to play with spotty minutes. We have all seen what Greene can and can't do. Branch, Jordan and Harrison have to play big minutes and Greene takes over Branch's old spotty minute role. That is what should happen anyway,

Not to mention, with Branch at point it allows Jordan to do what he really does best,, attack the paint.  He was finishing in tight, numerous times.  He's also a good foul shooter, so he needs to keep doing that.   He doesn't have to think as much playing wing as he does PG..  He's a better player when he isn't thinking and just plays/reacts....

As long as either Branch or Jordan is on the floor at all times and Greene can play off the ball it'll be fine. Greene shouldnt take any minutes from those Branch/Jordan/Harrison but he should be the first sub in to replace one of those guys when they need a rest. Ideally we should have at least 2 of the  big 3 on the court at all times with Greene/Dom playing limited minutes when one of them needs a rest

I am glad we won and look much better but it is also really annoying that it has taken Lavin this long to figure out who to play when the knuckleheads on these boards have basically been saying it for the whole year. Just seem senseless that we basically threw away some of the earlier games. Don't mean to be negative after a win, but when you see how well Jordan and Branch can play when given minutes......

Branch and Jordan have both tended to get into foul trouble w two early fouls or they would have played much  more.
