Looking forward to a game again and planned my Saturday accordingly. That in itself is a big win for the program in my eyes. Win or lose I think we will play well.

Hope nerves don't get the best of Jordan.  Playing in Philly, you know he will have a ton of friends and family..

our program isn't helping much by building hype:

One of the quotes describing owner Dan Snyder's basic marketing prowess in business as well with the Redskins: "If you cannot sell winning, sell the hype.  If you cannot sell the hype, sell them hope."  We're winning now - no need for the hype!

I think people have brought up a lot of good indicators of why we will/won't win on Saturday... Obekpa, good D on Achadiacopamus, D'angelo hitting his shots.. etc.

But I think, at the risk of over-simplifying things, there are two items  we should be looking for on Saturday afternoon:

1) Are we making the extra pass?   Or are we settling for contested jumpers?

2) Are we winning the foul game?

If I'm Rafferty, those are my keys to the game.   If we're not putting them on the line, and we keep working the ball inside like we have been... then I think we have an excellent shot to win.     My concern is that we'll be overly aggressive, Nova will get some favorable calls, and we'll be passive on the perimeter swinging the ball around.

My only question Desco would be working the ball inside to whom? Karr posted up against Butler, but those guys weren't a 260 pound beast like Pinkston or a 6-11 guy like Ochefu. Sanchez could compete down there, but he seems to like to float on the perimeter. Gift catches the ball with his elbows, you're not feeding him in the post. I agree we cant abandon the inside out game, but I don't know if we have the right personnel to pull it off effectively.

I predict a win if Mike Maher shows up early for the game.
I won't be there as early as you guys but I'll make sure we are there before tip off :)

Nice of you to pick up Linda Mirabella, Joe 3, Shurina C. & Needs 2Go.  You may end up in the swamps  of NJ.

Harold, Kumar and MJMaher go to White Castle - I can just picture it.  I think we'd have to bring on Liny89 for Neil Patrick Harris' role!  :2funny:

It I crazy that it took 16 years to beat Seton Hall away but we won in Nova in 11.

Here's to the ghosts of the 80s (retro jerseys), 90s (beat Seton Hall), 2011 team (last tournament team), and to creating current history (what a streak!) and SJU (officially now since the 2000s) wins 76-75 by God's Gift hitting the winning free throw  as a tribute to Chris O.

If God's gift is in at the end of the game down by 1 or in a tie game I will have a heart attack.

Looks like you might. We are going to need him to step up tomorrow with Obekpa and Sanchez out.

With Sanchez and Obekpa out, we are going to need guys to step up. If I am Lavin, I will be looking to Pointer to cover and harass Bell. Gift needs to step up as well.

77-76 SJU.

Obekpa ices the game with a foul shot while standing on one foot.

Game will be interesting with Sampson out and O possibly hurting.  SJU still right in game because Nova relies too much on the 3.  SJU has 5 guys, guards and Dom, who can guard the 3, great quickness.  Prediction within 5 either way but if I had to pick Id go with SJU on the hot as hell factor and great team confidence.  (also Im stupidly optimistic)
