If the Hall wins we may have to win the T to get a bid.

Not true.  If we win the next two and make the finals of the BET, regardless of whom it is against, we will be in better shape, even if nova loses today.  It would put us with 22 wins, a BET Finals appearance and having won 13 of our last 16 games.  It would be hard for the committee to leave us out I think.

That was a great finish. I really would rather play nova than the hall, not just because of the chance for a big win, but because I just felt better about playing them a third time then I do the Hall.

Hillard is great player, id take him over anyone on Nova. If he was on our team we would be a top 10 team.

I disagree, I don't think you can fault St Johns or Providence for Villanova losing. One of these teams will do its job, its on Nova for not making it to the semis.

I think two wins in the BE Tourney, a respectable outing(Not get blown by 30) and having Creighton or Xavier win(MQ or DePaul winning would steal our spot) would get the SJU/PROV winner in as the 4th and final team.

SHU winning is good for us. Win today, win tomorrow. In the finals, anything can happen there. Anyway, I think if we win today and tomorrow we are in anyway.

The only team I didn't think we could take was Nova. We have beaten all the other teams (not counting X).

This does affect the seeding for SJU/PROV though....I think if we don't win the tourney, we are in one of the two play in games. Had we beat Nova and not SH, that might have taken us out of it.

If we want out of the play in game, you win the tourney.

BTW attendance update:

Big East announced 13,000+ for tonights games
ACC announced 10,000+ for their first round games

I really think this whole new Big East wont draw thing and the ACC and MSG will conspire to terminate the Big East's contract is a bunch of bull. But tomorrow and on will be the real test.

Did any of our attendance counting fans go last night?
I was told nobody was there.

I was there and it wasnt empty.  I was actually impressed.  I wouldnt have guessed 13,000 but like 10-11 sure.  Busiest time was end of setn hall butler game when all of those fans were there as well as the gtown fans waiting for their game.  Tons of creighton and xavier fans too who must gust be in all week. Good to see.

I don't agree at all.  This sets us up for another more likely win than against nova in round two.  We haven't beaten Nova period.  Wins are wins.  Making the finals is making the finals.   If we win two more, I don't think we will be play-in game, but I'll still take it.  The most important thing is to continue winning, forget who it is against.  Two more wins and imo we are in very good shape.

Hope you are right but I have heard committee members interviewed where they say it doesn't matter where you get to in the conf tournament it is overall body of work and a win over a 500 SH team is not the same cache as a win over the #3 ranked team in the country and still leaves us with only one win over top 50. we are like 1-7 vs top 50. I did say maybe so hope we get in with 2 wins.

Agree......SH winning is BAD for St. Johns, BAD for the conference.

1.  Bad for St. Johns cause........ A win over SH means nothing for a resume, A loss to SH weakens our resume and beating them three times may be tougher then beating Nova would have been..
2.  Bad for the conference..... Even though Nova has been BOGUS all year, the perception was that they were a potential top NCAA seed.  It just exposes them as being OVERATED and hurts the perception of the conference.

Where the PC game may have been a play in game, now we have to (at minimum) beat both PC and the Hall.  Sucks for us.

Agree, this just increases our chances of a second win.   Sure, beating Nova has a bigger reward, but it's somewhat unlikely.  Or at least less likely than SH.
Getting the extra win is paramount.   But lets get 1 first. I'm worrried

They just showed a highlight from the Louisville-Rutgers game and the place was empty. I mean really empty.

The Garden is going to be empty over the next few days for this tournament.  The worst thing happening for the Big East was for Gtown, Nova and St. John's to all get knocked out right away.  A Nova/SJU and Creighton v. Quette/Gtown/Xavier would have been a great ticket tomorrow night.  Who the hell wants to show up to watch crappy Seton Hall?
