Great comparison.  Jakarr had more fanfare but due to his longer range I'd say Mase was a better pro prospect at this point in his career....

nice topic.  question though is how much more did AMJR improve Jr & Sr year?  numbers wise i don't know, but based on memory, i didn't see an NBA level type of improvement.  with that in mind, it makes perfect sense for JKS to leave now and dedicated 100% of his time to getting better.

I'd take Jakarr. A better complementary player than Mase. And Mase took tons of bad shots.

Other than Larry Wright's sweet jumper the Norm years are a blur of blowout losses, headbands, thigh high socks, terrible offense and fade away bricks. Could we please just never mention anyone from those years again.

Mase had to shoot for the most part.  I would have loved to see a healthy Mase on a team with more talent.

I think mason. Sampson should stay at St. johns. Keep playing basketball and prepare for life after basketball. He may make some money through basketball but he isn't going got get rich.

I'll take Sampson's athleticism and Anthony's head.

The biggest prob with Mase is that his dad would clean out the buffet before the game.  Dude!  I just wanted one dinner roll!!!!

Stop comparing apples to apples.  You are making too much sense.

That said, next thing you know, JR will tweet "So much Anthony Mason Jr in JaKarr Sampson"

Mase was asked to do too much.  I've been killing Sampson's pro potential for a while but his athletic ability alone puts him higher than Mase, although I doubt he ever gets Mase's skill level.  Good comparison, though.

I'd rather compare Antoine Mason after next season :)

Mason wasnt a poor athlete by any stretch. They both had more potential than actual skill. I think I would have to go with mase but it is really close and I really never thought about it until now.

Norms guys played harder and had nowhere near the talent. Those guys had personality. Sampson lost whatever respect I had for him when he choked that player. Then asked for a sub later in the game. I take Mace any day of the week

To me, both are now former players who get respect for playing here. That said, AMJR gave us 4 years, including 1 redshirt medical reason and came back. He gets props for that.

Sampson's game is difficult to assess because his potential was touted far more than he delivered in 2 seasons. Still, he did play decently for most of the time but, not at a level that would say, he's NBA ready. And, terrible foul shooter, 58%. That's CYO level..

Here's my question, Hardy or Harrison?

Harrison isnt done yet. Think most if not all would say hardy. As juniors has to be harrison. Hopefully he has a senior year like hardy.

Hardy. Not even close. That was a great year. He was a money player. I remember this board when a Norm signed Hardy, we all were like  "who"?
