Minnesota Predictions
« on: November 25, 2014, 08:47:41 AM »
Minnesota 66, STJ 55

We score 17 first half points and we can't club out of the hole. Harrison scores 19 in the second half and pulls us within 5 at the 4 minute mark. Out of the TO we immediately allow to Minnesita to take a completely uncontested 3 pointer, which is banked in off the glass.

Is that a TV TO or did Lavin call it after Harrison's made basket capped a 9-0 run.

Johnnies by 4.  This is not a bad matchup and there's no excuse for coming out flat.

And he spends the TO on the court showing Harrison how to shoot a jumper as Harrison's eyeballs threaten to jump out of his head. lol

There are three seconds to go and the game is tied. Obekpa is at the line for two. His first shot falls short of the rim.  Obekpa flashes his nervous smile, steps to the stripe, and calmly buries it. Sir Dominic intercepts the inbounds pass and the clock runs out. Pointer heaves the ball into the 200 section, beats his chest, and lets out a primordial scream - "Bring on the Zags."

73-72 SJU.

Another "teaching moment" on camera. Just a "lesson of life" I guess.

80-64 Johnnies.  If I don't have unbridled optimism about the team at 3-0 I never will.

D'Lo goes for 28, 10, and 5.  Obekpa for 15, 12, and 8.  Jordan for 20, 6, and 6.

SJU - 75
Minnesota - 68

Obekpa & Jordan have big games - double-double for CO and Jordan goes for 24 points...

*** if we come out flat in first 8 minutes this prediction goes away and we lose by 5

i know it won't happen, but i'd start Jamal instead of Greene.  I think it'd help tremendously with getting off to a good start.  oh well.

i don't feel good about the game, but will predict a win:
SJU 66
Minny 60

Chris gets into early foul trouble and we never recover.  Double digit loss.

Very simple prediction from me

If we can hang with Minnesota on the boards, we'll win
If not, we'll lose.

Here's wjhat I'm looking for in the nit.
Gotta get the win vs. Minny (a top 30 team in the ap), and even if we lose to Zaga, atleast make it respectable (5-7 pnt loss at the worst.)
I'm not into moral victories, but who here expects a win vs. them?

It would be a big time statement though.

If I can't be optimistic now, then I never will be.

SJU - 72
Minny - 64

Close game in the first half, we open the second with a big run, get up by as many as 12, ultimately win by 8.

I'm not drinking the cool aid.  This team is mediocre, to good, and this is being kind.  Lavin is awful at coaching, great at excuses.  At least he can't use the "we are the youngest team in the country" excuse anymore.   Minn 90 -StJ 68.  Maybe a little closer if Minn lets up in garbage time.
