Gonzaga's size worries the hell out of me.

If Obekpa gets in early foul trouble, it could be a massacre.

Only chance we have is to try and force alot of turnovers and RUN.

I do not see a chance in hell that we have a chance in this game. The matchup is terrible for St Johns. With that said, if we RUN and RUN some more we can possibly keep it close. Have great Thanksgiving folks.

I saw the first half last night. They were good, certainly not unbeatable. Georgia kept it close . They aren't good.

Hell, I'm excited, we just beat Minnisota, I just saw a Pirates Booty float in the parade, and we have a chance to win the Pre NIT...Which is better I think then winning   the regular NIT...it gives us more hope haha. Let's make this a SJU weekend and capture the cities attention!

We are St. John's!

Running = more possessions. They are a much more efficient scoring team and more possessions could lead to a blow out. I think the key is full court pressure.

Game depends on whether refs call it tight--we don't want them living on the FT line.  It comes down to the refs letting us pressure them or being whistle happy

You don't want to get into a transition game against the Zags.  They have tons of shooters and they LOVE running.  Georgia got mad help from the refs, tried to muck it up and GU still dumped almost 90 on them.  Johnnies would be better off trying to slow it down.

How is the perimeter D for St. Johns?

Historically porous on threes.

Zags have about 4 that can hit from three.  About the only two people who won't shoot a three are Karnowski and Sabonis.

Cool aside, Sabonis' dad was sitting pretty close to me last night.  Guy was an amazing player in his day.

They are a good team. Think we are hyping them up way to much. They have good players . So do we. Wish we had 1 more foward. I am confidently going to the game. If we don't play well I will be disappointed .

I'll try and give my honest assement of each player:

Kevin Pangos  - Elite PG... not amazing defensively, but does the job.  Cannot be left open, his open threes are automatic... has a nice floater too.
Gary Bell Jr. -  a bit small as a combo guard.  Can be outright deadly from deep and likely best defender on the team.
Byron Wesley -  Transfer from USC where he was leading scorer.  Not an outside shooter, has a good midrange shot and drives well.
Kyle Wiltjer - Transfer from Kentucky, has a NC ring, was SEC sixth man for UK... sharpshooter like no other... made 70 out of 75 threes in 5 minutes.  Deadly midrange as well and developed a solid inside game during the year off.
Karnowski - A major load down low.  Can block and posts very well.  Has something that resembles a midrange jumper (if you call 8 feet or less midrange), has a sweet hook and holds the ball high
Dranginis - Solid defender at the 3.  Can shoot outside as good as the others.  Penetrates but not near at the level of Wesley
Nunez - Playing out of position at the 4, but can shoot outside and work the lane
Sabonis - While not his dad, he is a rebounding machine and plays a solid post game.

With Perkins out... that is likely the rotation.

Does coleman still get no minutes?

Kyle Wiltjer worries me the most. Hoping Dom can get under his skin and throw his shot off. If not he will kill us.

Game will be similar to creighton game last year tough man to man and aggressive of the bounce should do the trick, nobody has mentioned our transition speed yet, don't think zags have the foot speed to hang with us off the rebound outlet. Especially with those big guys crashing the boards. Obekpa can outlet pass and beat those guys back down the floor everytime. Key will be controlling the backboard and beating them back down the court before there defense is set.

He's playing for Georgetown this year.  Georgetown College in Kentucky.

Coleman never fit into the system. Gettibg Wesley cinched his fate. Just to be clear... Any of those eight can score double digits.  Like I said before... Johnnies need to slow the game down... Don't run and gun... They'll get eaten alive.  This is a highly efficient offense

Yea, that's not good news for us. We need to run. It's our thing. Half court sets are for teams that pass and shoot really well. We don't.
