Joey and Adonis

Given how thin we are up front we could use big men off the bench so our guards aren't getting posted up by 6'10 kids.

I thought ADR situation was resolved -- or does staff need to wait for second semester?
Also Joey can't give us 7 min a game when obekpa is in foul trouble?

It would be nice if Christian Jones or Amare EARNED some minutes. Myles Stewart a skinny freshman was playing down the stretch . Opportunity is there for one of not both to play .

With no end in sight, Adonis should be redshirted

That would be an awful move. That wouldn't only create more scholarship imbalance.

Other than 5 fouls, what will he provide this year?

But if he isn't going to be able to impact our team this year, what's the point in wasting a year of his eligibility?

Joey if they so choose to use him should be available after Dec 17th which is the last day of finals.

I expect nothing from either of them ....EVER
Don't mean to be harsh but ADR coming in as a freshman with his conditioning is just someone who doesn't give a crap.

Pretty harsh for a kid who lost a lot of weight already while in high school. Isn't this true? He is a 4 year player who I expect with proper training will contribute while he is here.

in 3 seasons at FIU, JDLR avg. less than 2 points per game and 53 rebounds TOTAL.

at best all i hope is he can provide some defensive help to give Obekpa a break.

Just some quick points on Joey:

-He was the #41 ranked center in 2011 by ESPN and was ranked the 12th best player in Florida
-He committed to play for Isaiah Thomas and joined FIU mid-year but was too out of shape to play many minutes
-Thomas was fired at the end of the season and Joey's request to be released DENIED
-Pitino took over and brought with him 6'7 Rakeem Buckles of Louisville
-FIU already had two more talented forwards than Joey:  leading scorer Tymell Murphy (16.6, 7.4) and Jerome Frink (10.2, 6.3)
-Pitino's pressing style didn't favor a giant center like JDR and FIU also had two jucos that are now playing in Europe
-That FIU team was not much worse than we were that year, winning 18 games, losing by only two to Western Kentucky in the conference championship, losing to Sweet 16 FCU by only 3, losing to BC by 14, and losing to National Champ Louisville by 24.
-Joey transferred after just seven games in his junior year playing for his third coach
-Joey started and played 25 minutes against Louisville and 15 minutes against BC in 2012-2013

Help spell Chris O. and keep him out of foul trouble....that by itself will make a major, major difference.

Better question is why can't Alibegovic - who's eligible, in shape, and part of the long term plan here - be the guy stepping in for 4-6 minutes against big/slow front lines like the Zags.

Because if you watched the total 5 minutes that he has played this season, you can quickly see he doesn't belong on the court. The kid is completely lost when he is out there.

Clearly you are mistaken. Amar has the size, skill and basketball intellect to help fuel our purposes as we continue to to build our program into a sustainable winner.

That's a fair question for Coach Lavin.

Would be a silly question. Its very clear what he thinks of Amare. I think Myles is going to be ok. But he is not all that good right now. He at 175 pounds played over Amare when we clearly needed a foward.
For those of you who have watched the older Delarosa since HS, he was a decent prospect. Why has he had so many issues?
Would be great if Lavin could sub out Obekpa with either brother instead of a skinny guard in the second half. Thats all I am hoping for.

I've seen more than the 5 min of game time he's got so far.  He can play. He's bigger than Obekpa and can shoot. Way more upside than Joey with comparable present utility.  But you're probably onto something with lacking court sense.
Let the kid get some extended PT against Niagara. See how he adjusts once in the flow of the game.
