I'm pretty sure people were complaining about the bench guys getting no run. yesterday lavin plays them, wins by 15, and people are complaining that they played too much and sju didn't win by more. I'm not sure if these are the same people, but the guy can't win. I kind of like the fact that stewart, amar, felix, and jones got to play in this game. I don't think it hurt the core guys too much and now those guys will be a little bit more prepared if called upon.
Hey Napes, I know you're smart. Why we complain last night? Maybe it was because we go up 15 early, then Lavin start his bs, tell me Napes, what did a 1-3 Niagara club cut it to? 1. Did you watch it? If you did, are you gonna tell me that nah you weren't sweating it, that you knew that we were gonna pull away? Want the bench players to get experience? Well fine, we all know they need live game experience. But why can't we build a 25-30pnt lead first then put them in, in the last 10minutes?
I know you are a blast from the past. I'm all for 2nd chances but don't start stirring up trouble with other posters.

Me?  I'm talking to him about the team, am I getting personal with him?
And I'm a blast from the past? Are you really sure about that?  I know you think I'm Joe because of what Simply typed.
But are you positive that I had an account on here before?

I'm not as against starting Branch and Stewart as I was when I first saw it. Lavin has to find a way to have Pointer and Obekpa in the game at the end of the game, and he can't have them thinking about foul trouble while they are trying to guard SU's lot of future NBAers. The problem I had with his line ups and rotations were that they seemed so pointless. Stewart is 6'5. He can shoot over a zone. We're going to need shooters out there to even have a prayer to beat them. Pointer isn't going to shoot from outside of ten feet. Branch is not a strong shooter. Harrison and Greene are hot and cold. So is Jordan. With Stewart, hopefully, we have added something we've lacked: a shooter who moves without the ball. I really liked what I saw from him.
agree that dom wont help shooting over the zone, but he can be very effective around the free throw line, because he can slash, hit that little jumper, and pass.  I think with dom there, green/stewart camped out on the baseline, obekpa down low, and jordan/branch and harrison feeding those guys the ball and slashing, this team can beat the zone.  They won't do this, but if they did I think it would work

Henderson is good practice depth but he isn't going to get minutes this year or future. Liam Beasley and Kevin Clark were better. Stewart is solid. Was under recruited due to injury and played for two of Lavin's connections in Westchester HS and Earl Watson Elite travel team. I like his length and demeanor on the floor. He is a solid replacement for Hooper. It was good to see Lavin use a deep rotation this game. He needed to get these guys some minutes because they will be needed at some point this year. Hopefully FDU or Fordham they can get some run too.
You mean Liam Biesty? Come on, Henderson had D1 looks.

I'm not complaining about last night's odd starting lineup.

1) The savior breaks the Big east record (guesstimation) for turnovers with 9 against Gonzaga.  Perhaps some sort of action is warranted.

2) Sir with no Love is late for a meeting.  Perhaps some sort of action is warranted.

Put 1 and 2 together and you wind up with Myles Davis and the Aggie getting the surprise start.

HOWEVER!  The crystal clearly obvious starting lineup and substitution pattern must be employed against the Orange and going forward.

Stewart got the start because Dom was late to a team function. Jordan played 26 mins so the top six players still played the most mins this game.

Niagara got hot for like 5 mins where they shot 70% from the field to cut a big lead to 1pt. After that SJU took control of the game again.

Think some are making too much out of a non story.

It's been fun watching Dom's decisions when he does get the ball around the free throw line. Last year, Sampson would either shoot or try to drive whenever he got the ball. Dom is looking for the open shooter. That shooter just needs to knock down the shot though.

Think some are making too much out of a non story.

Disagree.  The fans have been stung before by Hollywood's "creative" personnel choices, player punishments and suspensions.  Suspicion and fear is a normal and natural reaction at this point.

I always liked Dom, thought he was a solid piece to the team. But man is he becoming one of my favorites. Never thought he'd take his game to the current level.

Dom at the FT line is perfect.  Wish he was 2 inches taller.  But ce la vie.
But he gets the ball and looks to pass first because he knows shooting isnt the strongest part of his game.  He has the ability to drive and its not so far where he would be dribbling for days.  Last resort is the shot isn't far and he can follow up for rebound.  It's pretty much how Brownlee was used Lavin's first year.

Yeah well I have suspicion and fear.
But I get scolded by the head man on this board, that I'm stirring up trouble.
Oh yeah and that I'm a blast from the past.

Bet if I joined Marillac and became a Lavin defender that I'd be one of the cool guys and I'll be accepted on here.
Sorry Desco but I'm forced to give in to the other side, forgive me man.

Why should anyone believe you about this year's walkons v. LB or KC?   Have you paid attention to the proclamations you've made recently?
- Sampson, no shot to play in the NBA.
- Dom Pointer, terrible terrible player, shouldn't be part of the rotation.
- Jones is going to be very productive and more than replace Sampson and Sanchez
- Briscoe is ours, count it.
- Top 3 recruiting class for 2015

Exactly what I was thinking moose, reminds me of brownlee in the middle. Brownlee had more offense but Pointer has been giving the team a little bit of everything. And a lot of rebounds which is exactly what he needs to keep doing.

Im not really sure if this is for me or Marillac, desco, but to recap. I never said Dom shouldnt be in the rotation just that he was overrated defensively and is not my type of player.

I am Jones biggest fan and will stick with that. So far in 44 minutes he has 16 pts and 9 rbs. Say what you will but unproductive is not the case. I do not think he is a good defender or rebounder. So play him at pf. Having a better front court this year was counting on Keith Thomas, still, I think we do have a better team this year.

I never claimed to or pretended to have inside information on Briscoe. I was simply thinking/hoping/wishing that he would come here. I still do, hes a hell of a player.

In the off season you were for several months on about how Jakarr Sampson, now an NBA player, was awful, and selfish, and a loser, and a cancer, and how we would not miss a beat because we had Christian Jones to fill his sneakers.

In 5 non exhibition games Jones has thus far gone for 8 points and 4 rebounds against a D2 school and no points and no rebounds vs LIU, 2 points and 1 rebound vs Minnesota, no points and no rebounds versus Gonzaga, and 2 points and 2 rebounds versus Niagara.

So to recap, versus D1 schools this year Chris "Addition By Subtraction" Jones is averaging 1 point and .75 rebounds per game. This you find productive and nothing anyone says will change your mind.

Emoticon. Emoticon. Emoticon.

Give that man a prize!
I would not be at all surprised if Jordan doesn't start against Cuse or if Balamou starts at center for that matter.
