Well written and an honest, blunt appraisal of where things are............and are not! At least not just yet.

Very good article. It's make or break time.

He is big fan of SJU...  was with him at a friends BBQ over the summer and he said there is nothing better about NYC hoops then when SJU is good...

It is make or break time. In recent years we've seen teams like Nova, Providence, and now Seton Hall ( how embarrasing is that ) catch or surpass us and not for a year or two but as a program. And DePaul is not far behind. Frankly we are closer to DePaul then we are Nova or G'Town.

We are not closer to DePaul than Nova or Gtown.

He points to Lavin not being tough enough with Rysheed like he did DLo. We don't know all details, but it could be correct if Lavin still didn't straighten out the previous, non-death related Houdini acts RJ has pulled.

No matter the issues a player is dealing with, they have to communicate when they cannot be at practice, games, meetings, whatever....no excuse for being that irresponsible to the team.

The most interesting thing about this is Lavin followed him on Twitter yesterday

As a program I think we are. We are still a floundering program that exists off a lucky year in recruiting. If we don't end with a solid recruiting year we are on the verge of another 5 year seasaw ride with no stability. That does not define Nova or G'town. It does define DePaul. This year was the year to get off the schneid. We needed a couple of freshman to work in slowly behind our seniors. We need a Briscoe type to be our star. What the Hall did this year is how we should be building our program ( God forgive me for being jealous of them ).

It's worth noting that there's no guarantee Willard will keep getting in high level recruits every year. That remains to be seen. Without top talent, he is, imo, middling at best as a coach.
