Big win.

Tulane beat Cincy in UC. Good news, beat Tulane earlier in the year and this could haunt the Bearcats. Bad day for the CIN/Ohio teams.

watching these kids play, it's obvious they have improved individually.   My biggest concern with Lavin has been to get the kids play as a team.  Minus the butler game,  sju has played well and it's because we have gotten away from the one on one stuff and played as true unit.

Before today, when was the last time we beat Xavier?
Mullin's first game in 1981 Lapchik Tournament

Great win by an underdog on the road
IIRC, Mullin had 19 in his debut. I didn't peek, but I think that is correct.

Really entertaining  game to watch -- against a real team, in an actual adverse atmosphere (not a high school gym).  Great TEAM win.  Branch and Harrison kept us in the game in the first half.  Dom played terrific start to finish.  Phil with some big shots in the second half, and even Sheed with a couple of big plays at key moments.  Have to think that the reason Obekpa was limited in minutes was because of the ankle; otherwise the move made no sense.  Interesting is that while Stainbrook is a really good player and caused the most problems for us today, he cannot stay on the floor for extended minutes against a team that pushes the ball like we do.  I thought that really hurt Xavier, because it seemed that every time Stainbrook was out of the game we were able to push ahead.

If Chris cannot start against Gtown, it has to be Amar or even JDR to throw his body at Smith for a bit.  Cannot be Felix.

JDR looked awful. Still think he should get a shot. Hoping he can play a few minutes. Smith is huge.

Smith is a big boy but he doesn't play huge minutes. If we play our style and keep it an up-tempo game he won't play more than 15 minutes. Putting JDL in would actually slow us down and probably let Smith play more minutes

I've seen games up to 3 days later on replay for Fox Sports and Big Ten networks. You might find it

Agree 100%. Like it or not but Felix is going to start. They are now 3-0 with him starting so coach isn't going to make that change.

But Felix is our designated starter vs Georgetown. I'm OK with it as long as Lipscomb doesn't start.

I think we've lost games this year because we simply ran out of talented players. Either they weren't healthy, or like regular people after going strong for a certain amount of time, got tired. Starting Balamou isn't necessary to get a budding star in the line up. It's necessary to bring something off the bench that can contribute, and today it worked. Again.

Smith has been playing less minutes lately, and true we have won a couple with felix starting, but it would be basketball suicide to start felix or Dom on Josh smith.   Why put ourselves in a hole to start the game?
Anytime smith is in the game one of our bigs needs to be as well.  He's too good of an offensive player to try to guard with a smaller player.   I think we'll have a hard enough time matching up with their other forwards, we can't be undersized against smith as well.
I also think we need to play man to try to limit Georgetown advantage on the boards.   We rebound more poorly in our "quick sand".

But today was definitely a good game.  Hopefully we can keep the good times rolling.

Well you can start bashing Lavin now if you want as Felix will get another start.

Swap Felix for Obekpa from today's starting lineup and should be good to go. Smith isn't any harder to guard than Stainbrook and Obekpa should do ok with some help. Just run up and down on them and Smith will spend most of the game on the sidelines

Barring a catastrophic finish, yesterday will be the game that changed this team's fate. To date, this was the biggest win for the program in four years. We're now tourney bound and firmly on the right side of the bubble. Huge victory, happy for the staff and players bc they all deserve it.

That seems a bit premature.  We're still only 17-8 and this team's motto has always been "inconsistent" under Lavin's control.  This is still the same team that lost to DePaul and Creighton.  I wouldn't put anything past them.
