I think we r both probably delusional, but  one can hope.  Right now we don't even have a coach.
As you know, once the coach is named, things happen quickly.

The new coach has about two weeks to get settled in, hopefully before the one week window in the recruiting rules. If not, they'll be getting their staff ready for the AAU circuit.  and making calls and more calls and more calls - lol

The great thing about college basketball is only takes a few players to really turn things around quickly....and if you do it a few years (even two) in a row it can be magic.

You only think you're delusional?

We don't even know who the coach is

It was painful for me to watch Turgeon struggling to get things going for three years. I felt justified defending him because I knew he could coach and also had a good staff for recruiting.  But until he got Trimble in with some left overs, a lot of posters were really worried he wouldn't make it in time. Now with Diamond Stone and Robert Carter coming in, next year has a chance to be magic as you said.

Briscoe if Cal leaves and we get slice?

If Cal left Kentucky it could probably be even a better scenario for Briscoe.

Starting five:  Jordan, Briscoe, Sampson, Diallo and CO or Pappa.     That's a tourney team.

I can't even imagine who Kentucky would go after if Cal left.    Doc Rivers?  Phil Jackson?   Donovan?  Shaka Smart?
Money would be no object for them.

Who wants to follow what Calipari has done?  A lot of guys seem to enjoy the relative job security that you wont have at UCLA or a Kentucky

True.  But they can offer somebody 6 or 7 million per season.

Question,
If we had made this move at this time last year..

1) Would Mullin have won more with the seniors?

2) Would Briscoe have signed in the fall with Slice on staff and a new coach with a long term contract?

3) Would Diallo have signed already if Briscoe was on board, a coach with a contract, and Slice and Matt A recruiting him?

Perhaps, but at the time a lot of people seemed to think we had a great shot at Briscoe and Diallo, and Lav would have had to have been bought out of 2 years.  No use rehashing (esp. if we end up with one or more of Diallo/Briscoe)...

He is apparently concerned with academics, but he did go to Fordham, so maybe he's not concerned with anything.
