Thank you. Many of us agree. When healthy, this team can destroy the opponent, but it comes down to that margin for error. Our key players need a breather. Even Pointer who has now been transformed into one of the best players in the country. He needs a blow. They all do.
Lavin is trying to get them that, but he needs the bench to help. At least in some way. Even if Alibegovic just rebounds, sets screens and passes the ball out of the post, he's a big help. He doesn't even have to score. Our front court gets much better when he plays well. The kid is a good rebounder. He's tough. But he's also very new to the game. In two years, he's going to be a 6'11 SF, who can put it on the floor.
If Lavin can get contributions from his bench, this team can do damage, but it's just been so rare. Against Providence, Joey Delarosa played well. Alibegovic played well vs Depaul. We need Balamou and or Christian Jones to give us one good game, because we all know, someone is going to get into foul trouble, or someone is going to twist an ankle, and then we'll all hold our breathe while we look over at the bench to see who's getting up.
Maybe coach will give Jones a shot again? It's so weird to see how timid of a player he is. He was aggressive, in my memory at least, in the exhibitions from 12-13.
