Paul Biancardi talked Big East recruiting on the U

ESPNU just did their recruiting special for football and basketball.  When Big East recruiting came up, Paul Biancardi focused on jay Wright and how he focuses on players that fit the Nova team/family culture.  After showing the recent Nova recruit placements (usually #50-100), the question came up about Big east recruiting, particularly how many schools are getting higher level recruits.


Biancardi immediately mentioned St. John's, and then when it was brought up again when talking about the rest of the conference, obviously brought up GTown and Providence.  He said he wonders if Creighton and DePaul will be able to make any dents in recruiting to keep up with the rest of the BEast. Wojo was mentioned for getting things rolling with #5 Elleson and his other recruits for '15.


Also, Brandon Sampson was pegged as the most athletic recruit coming into the Big East for '15.   


 

Creighton should start being able to reel better prospects from the Midwest.  There's tons of talent there.  Maybe he needs another recruiter on staff.  McDermott is a good coach and they have an amazing fan base.  They should be able to draw top 150 kids there.  It will take some time to find out how well their recruiting is going and I thought sellers would be a pretty good addition but they may need a little more firepower.

I have no doubt about McDermott the game coach. But Biancardi basically said the jury's out for him and Purnell.  It looks like Purnell will retire after his contract expires in 2017 - it was said to be the reason for taking the DePaul job in the first place..

Maybe not worthy in your eyes, but to say they have no business in BE is kinda foolish.

We had South Fla in the Big East for quite some time.....Creighton brings more to the table than South Florida.

Every league is gonna have good teams and bad teams.  Someone has to be at the bottom.  We just have to make sure it isn't us (anymore).  The ACC has bottom dwellers too (see Wake Forest, Ga Tech, Boston College).  Creighton is in its 2nd year in the Big East.  They finished 2nd last year.  Why don't we wait before we knock them.

We will probably do more than that for them by finishing below them next year.

Foolish.  Look at what they've done the last twenty years...they've been better than us for sure.
