preferred walk on I assume? wonder what the connection is
He played with Team SCAN, now PSA Cardinals, a few summers I believe.

Isn't that Cheick's team?

Good point - yes and Yakwe too......

I'm no detective...but I don't believe in coincidences either.  Same day committment from a former teammate to be a preferred walk on? Things that make you go Hmm...

To me, either 1) Cheick's coming, or 2) we are RIGHT there and hoping this pushes us over the edge, and if not, kid seems solid person and player to be a walk on from what I've read.

Just read that Elijah's brother, a rising Soph guard played with SCAN, not Elijah.

I repeat, I'm no detective.  Ha.  Oh well.

COULD be some connection to one of the handlers though that we just wouldn't know about.  We'll see where this goes today.

I think that's accurate.  Looks like Elijah is from NYC originally, and played for Westside United when he was in this area, and attended St Luke's in CT.

The guys we let go are higher ranked than Elijah.  Can someone explain this to me?

Welcome to St. John's, Elijah!
I wouldn't be surprised to see us and Najee Larcher as a preferred walkon in the next month .

What does this mean for the great David Lipscomb?

Hopefully David can continue realizing his dream of playing d-1 basketball while completing his degree.  He would make a great mentor for the new walkons.  We are lucky to have such a god walkon. I expect Mullin and staff will continue to do everything they can to make this the best program possible.  That includes bringing in the best walkons.

Best walk ons? How do you figure lipscomb is a "great" walk on? Let's be honest here I doubt this guy will become a great walk on like jeff hornacek of iowa state or even Scottie pippen, who were both walk ons. But let's be real here, if you want him learning from any players it will be contributors not lipscomb.

IN my opinion great walk on's do their work in practice and get the regular rotation ready for games. It is always nice though if they develop into good enough players to dent the rotation.

You obviously don't know me well as I called him great sarcastically.

No worries but I think Marillac was also on the sarcastic train now.  I think he finally realized his views of Lipscomb  years ago left something to be desired :)
