She issued an apology for her statements but was it even needed? Did she say anything bad?

i don't see anything in this clip that's off base.

in fact, i respect her more for her on-target viewpoint.

This was her Apology,

Quote
"Hi, this is Bonnie Bernstein, and I'd just like to take a minute to apologize for making a connection this morning on Mike and Mike between Palestinians and the adults who influence the thinking of many young NBA prospects. I was a student athlete who was lucky enough to have part of my college expenses paid for by a scholarship, and so I've always embraced the importance of higher education.

That said, it upsets me greatly -- as I think you can tell, if you heard the interview -- when I hear about adults telling impressionable kids, 'Don't worry about school, your future is in the NBA.' These stories just lend credence to the notion one is often a product of his environment, and while I emphasized that twice during our discussion, in hindsight I realize it was simply a mistake to bring Palestine into the discussion at all, and for that, I apologize again.

Lesson learned: Religion and politics have no place on public airwaves at a sports network. That's definitely a credo I will live by from this point forward. Thanks and have a great day."

Her point(exaggerated) was that these kids are being raised to be basketball players with AAU, Prep Schools, Runners/Agents. Kids being recruited in 8th grade. Their future is being planned out that school isn't a priority much like these Palestinian kids are growing up to hate america, make bombs, or whatever the heck they do. Its two very different things however her point was to compare that people in society are setting them up for this.

"The guy in your ear that told you that you had to ask that question ... as a journalist, that's fine ... but as a human being, that's not very nice ... and I've got to think that in tough times that people should be more sensitive."

It was a complete non-sequitor.  And an irrelevant one at that.  There are schools and groups that are indoctrinating their youth to consider being suicide bombers, but she makes it sound like "Palestinian youth" grow up thinking that.  That's too much of a blanket statement right there, and irresponsible for her to go on radio/ tv with a statement that wide.  But a lot of the response to suicide bombers/ terrorist threats does assume that every person of a certain type is a potential bomber, and that's not true.  Or there would be more suicide bombers.

She's still a fine journalist, and I like her passion in talking about the issue.
