Not expecting anything from Felix, practice player. Nothing we have seen would suggest he is anything but that. We are all fans, and we can dream, but lets be realistic here.

Pointer was on some All American teams coming out of HS.    His flaws going into his senior year were very different from Felix, and on a completely different scale.
Pointer was a player with NBA potential but had trouble going from being a starter to an All-League player.

Felix hasn't cracked the rotation in his 3 seasons here.

HS accolades aside, "The guy is a senior and we're still saying:  "he has to learn to shoot, improve his handle, and  he has to attack the basket more.
For all the good Felix (dom) does defensively, he's senior guard, who is a below average shooter, ball handler, and passer." that description is to a T what dom was entering his senior year.

Who knows what can happen. After all desco, Im sure nobody need remind you of who has been coaching felix these past 3 years..

I understand what you're saying Mase.   And Felix could take a jump forward.
But Dom was coming from a different place.   He was a starter who couldn't dribble or shoot well enough to be an All League player.    Felix cant shoot or dribble enough to crack the rotation.   There's a difference.
Dom also had size, and had led our team in assists two years running.    Very different players.

Felix could make a leap forward ... but that would only make him a borderline starter.

True and good points. I just look at felix's career this
1- freshmen year behind a talented class.
2-Quazi redshirt year??.
3- who knows?

He played better as a freshmen than he did this past year (same with CJ) so that tells me that there is talent there. Something was off with his confidence it seemed to me. It wouldn't surprise me in the least bit if either he or Jones are better than competent players this upcoming season.
*wipes ketchup from his eyes* - I guess Heinz sight isn’t 20/20.

He's always had potential. It may be too late in his career to tap that potential however. He simply hasn't gotten enough PT in his time here to make a Dom-like leap.

Dom probably had more playing experience after his freshman year than Felix has had his entire career.

Yes but DC had a position. Felix really doesn't.

He came into an awful situation a year after we signed the #35 RSCI recruit  that is a bigger version of him (and adored by the staff).  No shame in sitting behind a second round NBA pick that was 2nd team All-Big East the Big East Defensive Co-Player of the Year.  To make things worse, the class above him included a two top 50 guards, another 4-year starting guard, and the class after him included a 5-star PG.

Until you see how  a kid responds to consistent minutes, you can't really write them off.

Not writing him off at all. I think he will be a serviceable player this season, possibly even a starter, but to expect a much bigger leap than that is unrealistic.

I guess the difference is between expecting and hoping.  I am probably his biggest fan other than maybe Fun, but even I have to admit that he hasn't given much reason to expect a guy that can give us 25 quality mpg.  I do see the potential, though.  There is not a better athlete at any position in the Big East and I don't think anyone is even close to him either.

At this point, I see him as a 10-15 mpg defensive specialist that will be called upon to stop the best offensive player 1-3 with Durand Johnson.  The best case scenario for this coming season might just be him really stepping it up and starting alongside Johnson.

Lav had a premonition that day.  Things like that were typical of him.  They say people from the land of fruits and nuts really are "different", but I don't know.  He did and said a lot of really strange things.  All in all, a decent guy though.

I don't expect much out of Felix.  But he is super athletic and now has excellent basketball minds giving him training regimens and sharing their knowledge w him.  Could make a difference.  as someone said, 10 productive minutes from him would be a bonus.  As a super athletic senior that's not totally out of the realm of possibility.
