May be starting 2guard for Louisville this season. . A walk on recruited by Lavin. He essentially spent a prep year here redshirting and practicing with our team. . He left when Lavin left. Too bad he did not stay. Could always use another shooter.

And he couldn't get minutes on last year's delpleted team?

Henderson was redshirted. He was about 160 lbs when he came here, and had four senior  guards plus Balamou ahead of him. The decision to redshirt him was sound. Lavin knew Henderson would step in when seniors graduated.

I saw him play briefly, but he looked really good shooting the ball. If he was a 6'8 PF, he'd have played, but last year's team had Phil Greene who actually grew into the role of spot up shooter. Not much room for Jay to get minutes with Jordan, Harrison and Greene playing 38 minutes a game.

During Louisville tour in the summer the team was split into two squads. Jay got time with B squad & apparently played well. That said, no way he is a starter this year in my opinion.

Info is coming from me. It is too soon to say he will start, but he will get some playing time there. He will only be freshman eligibility wise.

Pitino brought in two senior transfers Trey Lewis and Damion Lee and top 25 freshman Donovan Mitchell so they could play a walk-on freshman?

Is Jay a walk on at L'ville or did Rick give him a schollie??

I guess the irony is, St Johns was depleted this year and the kid had as much opportunity for PT as anybody. Would Chris and Matt offered a schollie to a Lavin walk-on? Maybe, after spoke with him. Maybe he split like a lot of the non-seniors [Jordan, Obekpa, Stewart] when he heard there was a new regime.

A scholarship that could have been used on Henderson, that could be Ellison's, that could be Tariq Owens', interesting to look back. Amir Garrett's went to Rysheed Jordan. How do we feel that worked out?

Well I guess that could have been the thinking a while back but there is an unused scholarship going into the season.  Henderson would have used it for four years though.  Lets hope the class of 16 brings better talent than that.

Sorry Yank, didn't realize we still had the unused scholarship and Henderson could have used it. If that is true, goes back to my original point that Henderson left his own team when so much playing time is available.

Not worth the schollie or roster spot. This team already has enough guys who are going to need to touch the ball.

I always find it amusing when marginal players leave a team and their stock all of a sudden skyrockets according to some. I doubt this kid does much of anything at the Ville.

He didn't play enough for anyone to determine how good he was, but it's not like this hasn't happened at St.John's before. Cedric Jackson, Tyshawn Edmonson etc.

He didn't and that was on a squad that wasn't even that good. I see him nothing more than a spot bench player at L'Ville.
