The Good Elijah...
« on: November 09, 2015, 12:35:28 PM »
This kid plays hard. It's such a small sample, but hey, you grasp onto whatever is there, when there isn't much. Anyone have the book on him? Could he become a consistent part of this team?

This kid isn't going to have a ton of student loans, I expect him to crack this rotation and earn a scholarship. Like his size, defensive prowess and instincts.

After 1 exhibition game we have posters saying he's going to earn a scholarship?

Look I was happy with what he provided.  I'd LOVE him to turn into Andre Stanley part 2.  But come on.

Moose, by the time he's a senior he'll have earned a scholarship. I'm not saying it's coming next semester.

A few more buckets by Elijah & some folks will be clamoring for Mussini to go back to Italy. We just love creating walk on legends around here.

Everyone needs to watch Rudy to get this out of their system. :)

Am I the only person who found Rudy annoying? Midway through the movie I started rooting against him. In fact it might have been more than simple annoyance as I was openly rooting for Gollum to kill Rudy in the last Lord of the Rings movie.

Sam Wise will always be above Frodo in my book.

Frodo was annoying too. Plus I think there was a little more than friendship in Frodo and Rudy's relationship.......

Not that there is anything wrong with that, but I zoned out whenever they showed them. Well other than rooting for Gollum

I kind of hope he never has to play

At least when he does play, he plays hard.

Other than the Mahoney teams, which SJU teams did not play hard?

I wasn't referring to an entire team.

no affiliation.
But honestly even his family disliked Rudy. His brother stole his girlfriend, his other brother hated him and poor Ned Beatty looked like he had more fun in the Deliverance than he did being Rudy's dad.

Dee Bob loved him though, and Jamie O'Hara defied his coach to get Rudy in the game.  Given the career arcs of Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn respectively, I think it looks like Rudy was liked by the important people.

I honestly do feel a kind of a fleeting dislike of Rudy every time I watch it when he quits because he didnt make the dress list.  I then forgive him because it shows he is human rather than some inhuman tackling dummy who is always there to help, but in the moment where his walk on buddy with all the pressure in the world from his ND alum dad who turned down schollie offers from Big 10 schools tells Rudy the only reason he stayed on his senior year was because of Rudy, and Rudy dismisses him, I think "a rear of a donkey".  But then he quickly redeems himself.
