Fede"three"co

Sima and Ellison look good...Team played hard and refreshing to see some movement and offensive sets.  But it's going to be a long year.

When you're a kid from New York and you do it in New York, that lasts forever!

Dave, thanks for the great recap and video!  For those of us in the hinterlands, it was very much appreciated.

Christian Jones really looks like a different player, physically and skill wise. Darien Williams showed some bright spots. Great frame and just needs to figure out if he's more inside or perimeter. Sima, Mussini and Ellison are the 3 cogs to this team and all freshmen so very promising to see. I thought Mussini would contribute right out the gate and he looks to be the real deal. Durand Johnson needs to figure out what he's good at and just stick to that. He's got the talent level but just needs to finish plays. A lot of good pieces to work with. Future's bright.

Sima is freaking awesome.
I dont think he is awesome, but he had a good game. Since its his first all the more impressive. I always thought Obekpa was was over rated. I don't think Sima is ready to play like this vs a good opponent. Then he will be awesome. Obelpa never could.

Sima....Looked good, good feel for rebounding, lets see how he looks against a big front line in a few weeks.  Does finish....footwork not bad
Mussini.....great stroke, knows how to get open, quick release.....not a point but we all know that
Elisson....can shoot it, will learn to move, pass and ply D
Johnson.....loves his shot a bit too much
THought the team generally played mediocre to poor defense and got away with it because, well, this was Wagner

Anyone notice when coach got on Johnson for not diving after the ball late 2nd half. That was awesome. He let him have it.

Johnson makes his free throws, and he'll hit some threes, but it's been a while since I've seen a player dog it that much.

I do t remember Johnson from Pitt. But hearing everyone's scouting report, I expected someone much more athletic. I don't think we scored any fast break points last night.

Co was rated higher but You have to compare Simas first game to COs first game, not his Jr. Year. Sima already has a better offensive game and IMO will be much better than CO when he's a jr. I think he will be so good that I hope he's here for his Sr., year.

He is athletic, but if you don't play hard, you don't get credit for it. He's Avery Patterson 2.0

I don't recall many fast break points in general for us. It looked to me like they either purposely wanted to slow the game down or Wagner did a good job of getting back on D after missed shots.

Outside of everything I thought the guys played with good energy. They were more locked in than they were in preseason and played with more purpose. While they showed some good things they were also very fortunate Wagner was not very good.

Would like to see Ellison stay on the floor more (no foul trouble) and see how he fairs playing more minutes. Johnson will be streaky all year but for one year you can live with that.

Extremely excited about Sima. He has an impressive post game already. Great touch on his shots. Also, he's not quite Obekpa on the defensive end, but it looks like he will be a solid rim protector.

Yea Sima plays defense as opposed to wanting to block every shot thrown up. Obekpa was good for minus 4 to 6 points every game with goaltends

His upside is FAR higher than Obekpa's IMO and has looked really damn good in the last 2 games. Did you see that eurostep layup he had (but missed)? And his left and right handed scoop layups and hooks? Pretty awesome touch for someone who is supposed to be "raw".

Agree, Obekpa never had any offensive upside, whereas Sima can transform himself into a very nice offensive player in a relatively short amount of time

Obekpa was one of the best defensive centers in college basketball. Sima had a solid game against Wagner. I'm all for giving him praise but let's not forget the force Obekpa was in the paint.

Can we put an ankle bracelet on Mullin?
Think that is the NBA in him as pro coaches tend to stray much farther onto the court and they get away with it. Pitino strays (don't we know it) far out but he was an NBA coach too.
