Great win. Nice to see some fight. They gotta get the wins now because they might not be able to get many once BE play starts....

Need another person to handle the ball...and free throws.  If we can accomplish these 2 things....i think this team will be alright.

Greg St. Jean is our Head Coach right?

One thing I've noticed is that during TO's Mullin does not talk a lot. It's always one of the assistants.

Anyone else watch Lavin on that short little post game? He just couldn't help but smile. It was painfully awkward I thought.

Hard to tell how big of a win it was, but damn the guys loved it. Could be really good for them moving forward. The talent and the "want" is there. The coaching looks to be there too. Let's see how it all comes together

Lavin went right for the trip by Balamou to focus on.  Yeah, it was a missed call, but the refs also missed three blatant travels by Rutgers that led to baskets.  I thought that really showed were his feelings are.  He didn't want SJU to go to 3-0.

You have to feel for the guy a little having to return to the same school that fired him six months earlier.  Crazy they would force him to do that at St. John's instead of being in the studio.  There were kids yelling to him as they were leaving but I couldn't tell if it was positive or negative.

Nice win.  Team showed heart and hustle.  Felix was Dom-like on the stat line.  Need Lovett badly, team will not run until a qauick PG arrives.  Mussini playing well  but this should not be his roll, off the ball he will be more efficient.

I don't know how anybody can take a win over a Big 10 team of any sort at this point and criticize.  No we aren't playing clean basketball but we are half of a team.  The half that we do have is inexperienced and/or was a bench player last year or a 5th year senior.  We have injuries and ineligibility galore and still managed to win over a team that has a healthy roster with much more depth and experience.  Kudos to the kids.  The wins will stop along the way, but nice for them to start building the program this way.

Don't look now....  Stony Brook and Vandy tied at 62-62 with 2 minutes remaining.

UMBC also almost beat Wake Forest last week. We could play them in round 2.

64-64 in the Stony Brook/Vandy game with a second left in regulation.

I heard Raftery was pulling for Rutgers on the air. The ACC has Jay Bilas pumping them up and saying the Big East is dead.  What do we have?  The clueless ineptitude of FS1.  They have no idea of what is going on in college athletics.  They paid good dollars for our games, now promote the product.  ESPN does it. And they talk about the watered down Big East, when the truth is that the conference has always been in flux.  They have Jay Bilas and we get Raftery and FS1.

A win without Williams (basically) + Ellison, plus Johnson playing like crap, is pretty impressive. What is up with Johnson? I know it's only 3 games in, and he's playing off rust, but how much better can we expect from him? I was expecting him to play like a polished senior, & that's desperately what we need.

Great win. Great because it's a win. I thought the last second 3 point attempt by Rutgers was good, and we lost, but wow, what a thrill! Great to see everyone on their feet cheering. Both teams played ugly basketball, but we were lucky enough to come out w the win despite our awful free throw shooting and ball handling.

If you had told me that we would be 3-0 after the STAC showing, I would have said no friggin way.  This is amazing.  Even before the STAC game I was worried about going 0-32, because that Red-White thing was a mess.  Now we're 3-0.  Just Amazing.  Crowd chanting Mullin was awesome at the end.

Raftery has always pulled for St. John's.  He ran to Chris after the game to chat (off the air).  You can tell they are pals and probably going for dinner after.  I don't know what he said that made you feel he was pulling for Rutgers.  He loves the Big East.

I don't know what the hell is up with Johnson.  This was a game he needed to take charge of.  M'Vouika is really stealing his thunder it seems, but we need a secondary ball-handler and primary threat to take it to the rack.  That HAS to be Johnson.  He was one of the highest ranked recruits in this game for both teams and this is his 5th year.

He needs to find his role.  We have two guys, Johnson and Balamou, that are plus defenders right now with Sima not far behind.  M'Vouika is more vocal and just took his role.  Johnson seems less aggressive taking his rightful place.  There were so many places we needed him to demand the ball instead of letting Balamou and Jones do it.  A drive from Johnson is better than a take from those guys every time.

Every win is a big win this season. Really loved how the crowd got Into it late. If we can get Ellison back healthy and Balamou can play close to this level we can be deeper then I thought. Maui might be a little tough on us but hopefully we can steal one from one of the big boys.

Exactly right. Raftery ain't rooting for no Rutgers.

Johnson's role should start with passing the f'n ball. He plays like freshman that's never had to pass the ball before.  He should be playing within the system, but his plan is to dribble through 3 defenders and then throw something up. This is his 5th season. Too bad he's gonna play despite not having earned it. There simply aren't options, unless they give Holifield some more burn - which I would do on Monday after the first time Johnson pulls this shit.
