What is up with Amar? I thought he would be improved from last year and play an important role. He looked better last year.

Game is just too fast for him.

It's fun watching Mussini improve every game. He's got some good natural scoring instincts and will be even better when he gets to play off the ball next year.

Alibegovic has little bball IQ and feel and it shows in his poor play.

St. John's is building their roster a lot like Vandy. Mussini, LoVett, Ponds will be a lot like LaChance, Baldwin, Fisher-Davis

Mussini has proven himself.  The team is playing hard.  It's pretty much been an even game in the 2nd half.  That's good enough for me today.

Fellas, we are going to have to take this season's results for what they are.  We are a severely
Undermanned team.  We simply don't have enough talent right now on the court to be competitive with a team like Vandy.  We put our team together entirely in the last year and half our eligible players are either walk one or reserves from past few years.  We are bringing a knife to a gun fight right now.

We have some bright spots like our youth, but even half of our future promising players are waiting for eligibility on the bench.  We aren going to see more of this this season because we simply don't have enough talent.

Next season we will see a huge infusion of talent with Lovett, Ponds, Owens, Yakwe and maybe Freudenberg, Ahmed and/or others.  It won't be that way this season though...

On the bright side , held them under a hundred( with a little help from them )
37 point is not our all time worst loss.
Mussini  continues to improve

What a sad game that was. Really nothing more to say.

I'm not sure why I take issue with these "sad" comments, but I do.  Sad to me would be the guys giving up. They didn't.  You don't beat a Final Four contender with seven guys.  We played two walkons....one by necessity...and our bet two players are freshmen.  We had more talent on the bench than on the court today.  Stallings would love to have Mussini and Sima for the future.

Two quality 7-foot upperclassmen starters and shooters all over the court.  Vandy is nasty.  D is the only question for them, and our guys missed a ton of wide open shots.  2-16 from three won't get it done.

I don't even think we played that bad. Vandy just played really good and is a much more veteran and talented team. No huge conclusions or surprises here.

Pretty funny that after last year in the summer everyone on here was saying how good amar was going to be, and how much upside he had. He was awful last year and cant even do anything to warrant him minutes on a team where felix and christian jones play a bunch of minutes. He is awful

We all expected the team to take its lumps this year...but this was a STAC like devastation.  I hope we don't see games like this in March.

I think he's been serviceable this year. I see improvement but he's still playing above his level.

He's four games into his sophomore season.  I am one of the bigger fans of AA on this site, and I don't think he should be a guy in the top 7 players in a quality rotation.  He's not a 21 mpg player like they asked him to do today, but there were no other options with Williams and Ellison out.  It's not really worth raking him over the coals.  Yakwe and Owens will be playing ahead of him next year and I think he can offer good value as the fourth or fifth big.

At least they kept playing.  If I was GM, would try to rebuild around Sima, that kid has some real upside.  I think mussini could be a serviceable ball handler off the bench for 10 minutes a game.  I think the pieces they are trying to bring in for next year make a lot of sense, so hopefully this team can win a game or two in the ncaas in 2018.

It's just the blowout aspect of it.

If we had a real PG to get Mussini looks he would be shooting clips like Vandy did today. And I know Ellison and Williams are out with injuries and that is a big blow. I just want to see competitive basketball. Hopefully we will see some tomorrow.

Sima impresses me more every time I see him play or hear him speak.  That is one poised kid.  The reality is that he should not be asked to play more than 10-15 mpg as a frosh.  This experience against Vandy will probably make a big difference in his development.  His baptism by fire this season will pay off handsomely in the future.  I don't think bigs asked to do too much too soon run the same risk of developing bad habits like guards and wings.

Mussini is shattering every expectation I've had for him.  That is one shifty s.o.b. and he can really get to the rim in spite of him being the only threat to do so on the team. How can anyone not love those high layups off the glass at full speed over two 7 footers?  How do you defend that?  He was turning the corner all game on more experienced guards that should be playing deep into March.  He's a savvy player and is the perfect first guard off the bench type that can play either guard spot and provide a spark. That's not to say he's not a starting talent.  He gives me every reason to believe that he can and will improve this year and over the course of his career.  Sima and Ellison as well.

This team does not get very many easy buckets, so they will really struggle when they shoot like they did today.  There will be more of this ugliness, but it speaks more to the lack of veteran talent than to the young core.

As Desco posted earlier, we just need to constantly remind ourselves after every bad loss:  Lovett, Yakwe, Ponds, Owens, and the rest of 2016 class.  Just keep repeating that.

Wake put up a 50 burger first half just like Vandy. I expect a good showing for SJU tomorrow no matter what though, no way they take that drubbing laying down.
