Guys, I think offensively we've been pretty decent. The ball seems to avoid Justin Burrell, and I don't think it's all on him - it's kind of like how Rutgers seems to forget about Echenique the moment the defense slides one step in his way. In Rutgers' case, they have a more dominant post option than Justin has showed, and in St. John's case it's not that they want to avoid Justin, it's that the idea is to have a fast-paced game... so the guys are putting up the first half-decent shot they have.
That's a problem in and of itself, especially with Brownlee, who seems to have shot some "bad idea" shots. But that's ok; they're better at scoring than they've been in years so far. It's not just overpowering slow, weak opponents - they're hitting real jump shots. Personally, I think they should be driving and drawing fouls, but the offense isn't bad.
The defense, on the other hand, is appalling. And Poison has it right - the team just seems to not defend the pick and roll. And that's strange, because they've been picked and rolled for years. And the same guys have played for 2+ years; you'd think they'd be telepathic on defense by now. Coupled with guys out of position on their OWN man, you get a lot of open shots on the perimeter and at the basket - both high percentage places. If they were getting teams to shoot ONLY long 2's, the defense would be fantastic.
